Planned in Vietnam, but held in Hong Kong! Shanti & Rishi’s intimate wedding will be followed by an emerging trend – grand post-wedding parties
Wedding Planning - May 26, 2020
There were elaborate plans in place for Shanti Sadhwani and Rishi Mahtani’s nuptials after his romantic and memorable proposal in April 2019 at the luxurious Rosewood Hong Kong hotel. The duo had come together for an anniversary lunch when Rishi popped the question to Shanti.
Hailing from two well-established Hong Kong based Sindhi families, the Sadhwanis and Mahtanis happily immersed themselves into planning the #ShantisRishComeTrue wedding.
With dates booked for March 2020, the lavish celebrations were to be hosted at the Sheraton Grand Danang Resort in Vietnam. Shanti and Rishi, along with wedding planners Innaz Communique and Veydaa Events, spent hours conceptualizing fabulous themes for each event which would symbolize ‘I Love You,’ alongside out-of-the-box entertainment and decor ideas.
Shanti’s trousseau included exquisite and eclectic creations flown in from New York, Paris and India, and unique entertainment sessions were organized with artists from Europe and India. Award-winning make-up artist Natasha Moor was booked for Shanti’s bridal looks. Coming from a family of jewellery specialists, Shanti’s parents Rajesh and Angelina Sadhwani of Royal Enterprises designed an exquisite and extensive collection of pieces for their daughter which are nothing less than decadent masterpieces.
With the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic around the world, Shanti and Rishi anticipated what was coming and pushed their wedding month from March to May 2020. However, as the situation evolved and restrictions kicked in, they realized it made sense to opt for a hometown wedding in Hong Kong.
The intimate functions were held at the couple’s homes and the traditional celebration took place at the Rosewood Hong Kong hotel, where Rishi had proposed to Shanti. The families followed the prevailing rules and regulations, and managed to host an intimate wedding that was full of heartfelt emotions, blessings and filled with loved ones.
Shanti looked radiant in her bridal look by Natasha Moor, while Ali G – Hong Kong’s renowned celebrity photographer- captured all the precious moments.
Rajesh Sadhwani tells us about the emotional experience: “We intend to host a grand post-wedding celebration at a later date when social distancing rules and other pandemic restrictions are relaxed.” Managing all the emotions and the change was an experience which Rajesh explains is part of life: “Since decades our families have organised grand social celebrations with utmost joy and attention to detail. We had to stay strong when all this happened, so my advice to all parents as well as to-be-wed couples is to accept every situation with grace and learn to adapt with the current times. Of course all this is easier said than done. So if you are a parent, gently and slowly communicate with your child and let them tell you what they dream of! Also if you are a bride-to-be don’t over-stress, but just think of all that is possible and practical whilst making the wedding of your dreams come true.”
