Planning a destination wedding in 2021? Here’s what industry leader Vivaah Wedding Décor Stylist has to say!
Wedding Planning - Feb 24, 2021
Wedding trends are ever-evolving, but one trend that has captured the imagination of modern Indian couples like no other, is the idea of a ‘destination wedding’. A contemporary alternative to the Big, Fat Indian Wedding, there is an undeniable allure to the idea of blending the splendor and traditions of wedding functions with the added excitement of a vacation in a stunning location. The experience of the couple and their entourage and guests who are not just meeting and greeting for the festivities but also staying under one roof and enjoying every second together truly adds a personal touch to the entire wedding.
The year 2020 has undoubtedly affected how weddings are traditionally celebrated in India. Everything from the size of guestlists to wedding planning and related execution, to locations and International travel, saw a paradigm shift, but it could not faze the spirit of love and family that is at the core of all weddings. We spoke to Rachana Lucknowala and Zuzer Lucknowala, founders of Vivaah Wedding Décor Stylist, to get their expert opinion on Post Pandemic Indian weddings. The duo with almost two decades of experience in the wedding industry spoke about the changing trends of destination weddings in India after the lockdown, and what one could expect in the future.
They share, “While Planning a wedding post the Pandemic, there are certain things that we have to invariably keep in mind through the whole process, such as restricted guest lists, ensuring spacious arrangements to avoid crowding, venues with proper health measures, to name a few. Destination weddings for one, allow for most of these measures to be executed, as they cannot include very large guest lists, and the venues can accordingly be chosen to ensure appropriate spaces and arrangements. However, the Pandemic has to a large extent restricted International as well as local travel, ruling out some of the most sought-after locations. Popular local venues which are huge wedding destinations of choice such as Jaipur and Goa are now attracting a large number of celebrations.”
He further shares, “A great option at this time is to opt for offbeat locations previously unexplored for weddings. Many such places have gorgeous venues and hotels to choose from, unblemished vistas that are far away from teeming crowds that are perfect for a wedding for everyone to remember! We have personally planned, designed and executed several weddings in unique locations such as Tanzania, Mussoorie, Raipur and Siliguri amongst others, and we view this as a promising trend for the upcoming year.”
