Reni and Dharan’s Platinum Day of Love
Love Actually - Jan 25, 2017
Our initiative Love Actually is a photo series featuring couples who actively seek ideas and inspiration from WeddingSutra. The series celebrates beautiful people as they start their lives together: because real love is timeless.
Reni met her fiancé Dharan through a family member. They didn’t have much in common initially but bonded over their idea of life and adventure, Reni explains, “When we first met, we didn’t even have any common friends! But we couldn’t resist being in touch and became really good friends. Gradually, our relationship blossomed into love.”
Their parents were pretty excited when they learned about them and everything moved on smooth from thereon. Every moment of their time spent together had been wonderful, but for Reni, one instance stood out, “It was just a usual day for me and suddenly I received a call from him to reach Colaba immediately. His driver picked me up and dropped me at the gateway, guiding me to the yacht. I had no idea what was going on and then suddenly I see him all suited! I was shocked and had no idea about what was going on; suddenly, he gifted me a beautiful red gown and shoes and told me to change into it. Initially, I thought it was just for us to have a break from the crazy wedding planning schedule but then, he totally surprised me by presenting me with a delicious chocolate cake with a platinum band in the ring box. I couldn’t believe my eyes and instantly said ‘yes’ to the most amazing man in the world. I was so in awe of the whole experience that I had to ask him to pinch me! The beautiful evening ended with champagne and dinner at the Taj.” She shares.
When it was time to book an event planner they realized that their taste and ideas were too specific and so they decided to plan their own wedding. Reni says, “The theme for our wedding is ‘Love’ hence we’re following a love story for each of our functions. The engagement was ‘Adam and Eve’ themed and there were apples and florals for the guests and a jungle setting. The wedding itself is themed ‘Lakshmi Narayan’ – the only complete holy love story with the aesthetics that complement the God and Goddess. For the evening function, we have planned an unconventional theme and have a wedding celebration instead of the traditional reception where we have our ‘meet and greet’ session with a royal ballroom-theme. There’ll be dance performances too, I’m pretty excited!! For a sneak peek into our functions and videos, we have even designed a website for our guests.”
Dharan helped Reni put her ideas into perspective and was also actively involved in the entire wedding planning process. He explains, “It has been a collaborative effort; we have been very passionate about planning our wedding and are taking interest in the tiniest of details.”
Taking a welcome break from all the hectic wedding prep, the couple enjoyed their pre-wedding shoot on the expansive open terrace lawns of the luxurious Jade Garden in Worli. “The shoot was amazing,” Dharan said, enthused, “the photographer, Mithilesh was very interactive and fun to shoot with. To be honest, the whole scenario felt like it was a part of our celebrations.”
The couple already has a history with platinum jewellery. It helped define the most precious moments of their lives together. “Dharan proposed to me with a platinum band which was very special,” Reni smiles. “We loved the Gehna Platinum bands as they’re not only beautiful but also signify an everlasting bond of timeless love.”
As the sun set, the lovebirds exchanged romantic glances at each other and also thanked WeddingSutra for this amazing shoot, “Everything was beautiful. The wonderful makeup artists at Jean-Claude Biguine made us both look so good. We had a great time!” Dharan beams.
