Big, fabulous Indian weddings have definitively taken a backseat in the current pandemic and intimate celebrations are now trending. But a wedding is a unique occasion that every couple deserves to experience just as they envisioned.
When the reality of shifting Harsh and Suruchi’s royal wedding from Fairmont Jaipur to Mumbai arose, WeddingSutra Favorite – Kkings Events rose to the challenge. Keeping all safety guidelines in mind, they re-planned the entire wedding without compromising on the details or grandeur. Plus, the elegant and regal decor by WeddingSutra Favorite – Vivaah Wedding Decor Stylist impressed everyone.
Venue
Monil Shah of Kkings Events, shared his experience of planning this wedding with us.
“For the revised wedding celebrations in Mumbai, we chose two venues – Blue Sea Catering and Banquets at Worli, for the sangeet and for the wedding, we zeroed in on Sofitel Mumbai BKC where some rooms were also booked for guests. Both these venues were chosen for their dedication to stringent health and safety for their guests.”
Focus on Safety
“The focus that earlier used to be 90 percent on decor, entertainment and food has now shifted to just about 30 percent. Today, around 70 percent of our attention is now on sanitization and protocols. Also, finding the right vendors was a challenge due to a reduced workforce with many having returned to their hometowns. The tasks which earlier may have taken two hours to execute were now taking about five hours.”
Delightful Decor
The Vivaah Wedding Decor Stylist team created beautiful decor setups for the sangeet and wedding, while Glitz Entertainment executed the decor concepts for the mehndi. Saycheeze Photography captured every second of the festivities in flawless frames. A host of entertainers provided memorable performances live and over Zoom calls.
Live and Zoom Entertainment
Despite the restrictions of the lockdown that put a downer on the initial plans of a royal wedding, the bride wanted to host all three of the major events, albeit on a smaller scale. Monil shares “Even though we had to transform the big fat Indian wedding into an intimate celebration, every event was full of beautiful moments, love, and unique elements. For the mehndi, we planned a fun antakshari competition with all audiovisual parameters synced which everyone loved. The sangeet saw three types of perfectly planned performances to cater to both live guests and guests on Zoom calls. Anchor Chirag Vithlani hosted the event, while singer Shanay Shah and comedian Ojas Rawal entertained guests over a Zoom call.”
Trending Traditions
To ensure the couple had moments they would cherish for a lifetime, the utmost care was taken to conduct all the wedding ceremonies such as the baraat procession, varmala, walking under a floral canopy, and bidaai as traditionally as possible.
Philosophy of Protection
To plan a spectacular wedding responsibly in the current scenario, they adhered to the basic guidelines set by the government and came up with creative solutions for all social events. Monil adds, “It was a combined brainstorming effort by us wherein the venue and catering teams had to come up with protocols and innovative ideas. We would like to commend the team of Blue Sea Catering, on their efforts and ideas to ensure the highest level of sanitization for the Mehendi function. Face masks, gloves, sanitizers and face shields were provided for everyone working during or behind the scenes for the event. The decor and catering arrangements were done eight hours in advance in order to get every surface re-sanitized and defogged. The temperature readings of every staff on duty were taken at the start of the day.”
“When guests started arriving, a three-step process was followed for each person, which was to check their temperature, sanitize their hands, and provide customized face masks to add some fun to the event while ensuring safety. Social distancing protocols in terms of seating layout were planned in detail and executed. Finally, all cutlery items were UV sterilized and handed to guests directly from the UV Box, and the entire buffet was strictly served only by the catering staff equipped with PPE Kits. Following these guidelines, we ensured peace of mind for everyone as everyone, especially Harsh and Suruchi, thoroughly enjoyed the celebrations. ”
