Showcasing Jodhpur's Splendor at Royal Rendezvous 2019
Destination Weddings, Wedding Planning - Apr 22, 2019
India’s opulent palace hotels and historic backdrops offer unparalleled settings for destination weddings. Royal Rendezvous is a platform created to showcase the best of India’s history, royal heritage and legendary luxury as a compelling proposition for world-class weddings.
The first edition of this initiative – Royal Rendezvous 2019 – owed its success to the meticulous planning by Prerana Saxena and Annushree Agarwal of Theme Weavers Designs, under the guidance of HH Maharaja Gaj Singh Ji II, of Marwar Jodhpur, as well as its iconic address, Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace.
Between March 31 and April 1, 2019, a host of international and Indian wedding planners, media and other professionals in the weddings industry witnessed the unveiling of ‘Destination Jodhpur’ in all its glory. The three-day itinerary was carefully customized by Theme Weavers Designs and packed in a variety of authentic elements and experiences unique to this beautiful region in Rajasthan.
The event commenced with the arrival of the guests who had their first encounter with the rich heritage of Jodhpur through a royal Pachranga style welcome, the signature reception at Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace. This was followed by a welcome lunch at the Taj Hari Mahal where the delectable spread left their taste buds tantalized.
As the sun set, an enthralling evening at the Bal Samand Lake Palace awaited the invitees. Dressed in traditional block-printed shirts and kurtis by Abhipri, everyone made their way to the relaxing and entertaining soiree. They enjoyed a scintillating Cultural Rave, with actor Sonam C Chhabra as the anchor, and performances by DJ Siddharth, Basti Band, and Ustad Nathulal Solanki.
The second day saw attendees setting off on a sightseeing trip to historic sites in the ‘Blue City’ where they also got a chance to savor local cuisine through a food walk curated by Vikas Balia of Jodhpur Heritage Walk. A ‘Destination Showcase’ at the Marwar Hall in the palace was put together by event partners — Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace, Theme Weavers Designs, Photo Tantra, Puneet Gupta Invitations, Rosette Weddings, and The Cab Solutions.
Right across, at the Rathore Hall, was a day-long exhibition christened ‘Homegrown,’ with stalls by Jodhpur’s finest talent including House of Rambhajo, Almond Tree, Gulmohar by Pooja Newton, Chhatrala Jewels, Baba Art Emporium and Jesper Jewels by Riddhi Chheda Gala.
WelcomHotel Jodhpur hosted a bazaar-themed lunch with a ‘haat’ (rural-style fair) that brought out the various colors and moods of Jodhpur. Bright hues and traditional aesthetics set the stage for remarkable performances by differently-abled children from the Jodhpur Blind School who won everyone’s hearts with their talent. Soon after, the guests set out to witness art work from the region through an Art Walk at Mehrangarh Fort and were left inspired by the display of skill and creativity.
The Royal Rendezvous without royalty would have felt a tad incomplete, so the grand finale was hosted by HH Maharaja Gaj Singh Ji II. The glittering night saw Neil Simons play live music at the Baradari lawns and the highlight of this regal extravaganza was a bridal fashion preview by couturiers Falguni & Shane Peacock and Suneet Varma. The show was produced by supermodel Lakshmi Rana for Wilderbee House while the hair and makeup were by Yantra Spa & Salon, who also set up a blow-out bar to pamper guests through the two days. The magnificence of the night was taken up a notch by the beautiful showcase of ice installations by Saurabh Katyal of Imagine Ice sculpted. The revelries concluded on a joyous note as the attendees were presented with thoughtfully curated hampers by Puneet Gupta Invitations, Jesper Jewels and Mizo.
