Shreya and Vishal’s pre-wedding photo shoot in Scotland had all the elements of a fairy tale

The hills, lakes, streams, valleys and wildlife of the Scottish Highlands exude an untouched natural vibe that is unparalleled elsewhere in the world. Shreya and Vishal’s pre-wedding photo shoot there by WeddingSutra Favorite WeddingNama framed the beauty and bounty (think scenic castles!) of this unique location expertly. Ankita of WeddingNama shares details of this memorable experience.
Pre-Wedding Photo Shoot
London-born Shreya had visited Scotland on family vacations as a child. She mentioned this to Vishal when they were discussing pre-wedding photo shoot locations. When Ankita and Akash of WeddingNama heard this they knew exactly where they needed to go. “Shreya has such fond memories of the Scottish Highlands which she could relive with Vishal and capturing the two as they created their special moments there was sure to produce fine results,” shared Ankita.
“The first day there was pleasant so we managed to shoot most of the footage for the video to be screened at the Sangeet. We visited Tantallon Castle which is a majestic structure by the sea. It was the kind we see in storybooks! The castle looked marvelous under the moonlight!”
A change in the weather the following day posed a few challenges. However, everyone carried on. “It was raining heavily for the next two days and was so windy that we couldn’t fly the drone at all. We had to use the car heater to beat the bitter chill. However, we managed to shoot in spite of the odds! We even got photographs near a cascading waterfall, one that Shreya had visited as a kid.”
When the sun came out, the team went around the region looking for other awe-inspiring backdrops, and the Scottish Highlands did not disappoint. “We came across a partially done castle with beautiful architecture on the other side of the cliff. After a couple of shots, we were ready to leave when the warm owner invited us in. On finding out we are wedding photographers, he gave us a detailed tour of the castle, explaining how wonderful it was for a destination wedding. He insisted we take a couple of photographs inside and even publish them. Although we were late for our flights, we couldn’t refuse the proposal!”
Sharing details on logistics of the photo shoot, Ankita adds, “Scotland places zero to minimal restrictions on photography, so it was easy for us to shoot there. We traveled with the couple and stayed at a villa in the Scottish Highlands. Shreya cooked us homemade meals there. The couple even called us from the store asking about our preferences which was quite thoughtful. When we arrived, the food was laid beautifully on the table, alongside flowers and glowing candles. The kitchen was stocked with Maggi, milk, bread, eggs, and we were taken good care of!”
