Sonali and Rohan’s Captivating Pre-Wedding Photoshoot in Kashmir
Pre Wedding Photoshoots - Jul 30, 2018
Kashmir – a paradise that epitomizes beauty and romance – proved to be the perfect location for Sonali and Rohan’s pre-wedding photoshoot captured by WeddingSutra Favorite – Shades. Explore the range of wonderful views and expressive emotions that their images convey.
How We Met
“Rohan and I met through his sister who happened to be my best friend. Initially, we were just friends but fell in love after we got to know each other well over time. Our relationship had its ups and downs especially when we were dating long-distance, friendship was always strong.”
Proposal
“The wedding proposal story in our case is unique because I was the one to propose to him. We were on our flight to Goa, and I requested the crew on board to play our favorite song – ‘All of Me’ by John Legend. Since this happened just as we were about to land and the lights were dim. I took his hand in mine and asked him if he would accept all of me with the good and bad as I accept all of him and put the ring on his finger.”
Pre-Wedding Shoot
Kashmir was the couple’s uncontested choice for their pre-wedding shoot right from the beginning and we conveyed the same to Jhalak and Ashwin of Shades. WeddingSutra Favorite Shades shared their experience of planning this pre-wedding shoot with us. Ashwin expressed, “There was no way we would have found a place more beautiful than Kashmir which has been called ‘Heaven on Earth.’ When we began shooting there, we knew we had made the right choice. The place is a treasure of natural beauty and epitomizes romance. While shooting there was a little bit of a challenge because we had to be careful because of the political upheavals, it was all worth the effort. We chose the Dal Lake and The Khyber Himalayan Resort & Spa as the shoot locations apart from a few other areas in the interiors which people rarely visit. One of our fondest memories was arranging a rugged local boat which gave the portraits a rustic look. We even made sure to incorporate shots of the couple on a ‘shikara’ (traditional Kashmiri boat) to add an authentic Kashmiri vibe to the images. We avoided using props because the whole idea behind shooting in Kashmir was to make the most of its natural beauty.”
The couple shared, “Working with the Shades team was like working with family. We share a very close bond with them, and they have in a way been a part of our journey, so they were always our first choice. They have an eye for beauty, and an instinctive understand of the way emotions flow which makes their work so attractive. The entire shoot planning and sussing out appropriate locations was all their hard work.”
