This couple’s seven-day destination wedding in Dubai will inspire you with its modern themes that balanced tradition beautifully!
Wedding Planning - Jan 21, 2022
A week-long celebration that witnessed equal doses of glamour, tradition, heartfelt moments and innovation, Kashika and Anish’s wedding in Dubai hosted during the chilly month of December looked straight out of the movies with its unbridled luxury. Spearheading the planning of this colossal celebration was WeddingSutra Favorite – Vivaah Celebrations who with their efficient foresight and innovation orchestrated events that left everyone spellbound.
Wedding Planning
Planning a wedding this grand is no mean feat. Fortunately the couple had Vivaah Celebrations at the helm who made their dream come true. Newlyweds Kashika and Anish share, “We were anxious initially as we had a week-long celebration to plan for! It was a huge celebration with guests flying in from all over the world and the planning process was an elaborate one. Thankfully, we connected with Vivaah Celebrations as we had heard of how seamlessly they plan and execute high-profile weddings. After having met Rahul and the team, we knew we had found the right planners for this herculean task and were comforted by their efficiency. For 10 months, we deep-dived into every aspect such as guest experience, artist management, decor themes, food & beverage, gifting and trousseau planning. As a result, the event turned out to be one of the finest wedding celebrations that the city has seen in a long time. We owe it all to the Vivaah Celebrations team.”
Rahul Kumar from Vivaah Celebrations shares, “Every event was designed to have a different theme and color scheme to it. Additionally, a 24-hour French patisserie was set up for all seven days. Operational throughout the day, the pastry chefs served French delicacies to guests who could enjoy a light bite in a truly authentic setting. With over 70 operations executives, 100 fabricators, 12 florists, 60 chefs, 40 different menus and above all, over 35 performing artists, this 7- day wedding celebration was truly a spectacle that was witnessed by about 400 guests attending from various parts of the world.”
Wedding Functions
Ganesh Puja
The celebrations commenced with a Ganesh Puja at the groom’s residence where the family sought out the blessings of Lord Ganesha. Attended by close family and friends, the event was decorated with bright marigolds and lush green banana leaves.
Chooda
The Chooda ceremony kickstarted the wedding celebrations for the bride. Hosted outdoors, this ceremony witnessed the bride donning traditional wedding ornaments along with guests flaunting their best moves even as they grooved to the beats of the DJ.
Sufi Dinner
Attended by their close family members, the Sufi Dinner was hosted at a top-rated fine dining Indian restaurant located within the wedding venues. While the guests enjoyed lip-smacking traditional Indian fare, they were serenaded by Sufi songs sung by a well-known local performer.
Welcome Dinner and An Evening in Paris Party
In order to break the ice, the to-be-weds hosted a Venetian-themed welcome dinner. Gracing the entryway was an immersive tunnel that showcased antique Italian art, sculptures and paintings that transported the guests back in time. On entering the venue, the guests were wowed by the life-sized ancient Gondola Photobooth along with the captivating decor of vibrant red roses and candles.
The evening then transitioned into ‘An Evening in Paris Party’ hosted at the music hall of the venue. With custom-made plush furniture and designer bars that resembled a VIP Parisian Night Club, this was indeed a swanky affair! With delicious cheese platters, cigars and wine that flowed freely, everyone had a gala time and were entertained by performers on a glitzy LED stage. Giving us a peek into the detailed planning that went on behind the scenes, Rahul shares, “One peculiar request that stood out was the provision of some of the rarest cigars to be made available on every table, that is, Monte Cristo No. 5 which we specially shipped into the city. These cigars had not been available on the shelves for months! Needless to say, the guests were thoroughly indulged as they smoked these cigars.”
Mehndi
Rahul shares, “After the welcome dinner, we executed one of the most interactive events of the wedding – the Amazon-themed Mehndi bash. We did not want the raw aspect of the rainforest to be taken away and hence we designed the event accordingly. The attendees walked in through the dense green forest entrance walkways which included artificially created waterfalls and rivers, exotic birds, tree barks and other raw earth elements. Additionally, we also crafted unique games to keep the guests entertained. An oversized Spin the Wheel, Pineapple and Coconut Bowling along with many other games made the Mehndi event a jovial one.”
Sangeet and After Party
Punctuated by the sound of gentle sea waves, the open-air Sangeet drew inspiration from Roberto Cavalli with all its bling. Adorned with crystal chandeliers, hand-blown glass elements and deep mirror installations, the Sangeet stayed true to its theme which was called ‘Night Under the Stars’. The couple commemorated the evening with a champagne tower that stood eight levels tall where they poured their favorite bottle of champagne to rejoice with their guests. However, the highlight was the immersive entrance tunnels adorned with Swarovski crystals overhead as well as the floor.
Furthermore, the musical evening saw the presence of music maestro Rahat Fateh Ali Khan during the Sangeet after-party that elevated the ambience to another level. The guests enjoyed the serene tunes of the legend amidst a decor that resembled a Mughal palace with its low seating, mesmerizing dervish dancers, and warm ambient lanterns that cast a golden glow over the venue. Surreal to say the least!
Haldi and Wedding Lunch
Rahul shares, “The Haldi and wedding lunch were intimate rituals amongst the family, and with that in mind, we created a warm and cheery ambience. Bedecked with lemons and oranges, the setting for the bride and groom’s respective Haldi ceremonies was refreshing yet subtle. The guests were then welcomed for their ‘Maharaja Wedding Lunch’ where the venue was transformed into a palace serving a delicious selection of traditional Marwari delicacies that were presented in royal thalis.”
Reception
The following evening after the Haldi and welcome lunch, the guests were treated to a plush Reception party with floral installations, an iconic floral sculpture bar, and high-quality spirits that flowed freely. Surrounded by chilly air, everyone had a gala time as they indulged their palate and took in the breathtaking surroundings.
Wedding
Dancing their way through a 400-meter long stretch pathway along the beach, Anish’s baraat was a power-packed one. On the other hand, the bride entered under a blanket of flowers leading up to the varmala stage where the couple exchanged garlands while being cheered on by their loved ones. For the big day, no stone was left unturned as the wedding took place under a beautiful floral mandap. An aisle crafted out of glass reflected the sun and added a dash of dreaminess to the bridal entry. Backed by the gleaming waves of the Arabian Sea, the wedding was ultra-romantic leaving the guests in complete awe.
