Veena and Neil first noticed each other in college. However, as fate would have it, the duo only connected a year and a half later at a mutual friend’s party and since then, there’s been no looking back for them. Hosted amidst the lush landscapes of Goa and captured by WeddingSutra Favorite – Shutterdown who made every click count with their effortless expertise, the engagement was the epitome of elegance as it fused two South Indian cultures together to create a celebration that brimmed with fun.
Veena recollects the beginning of their love story, “Neil first saw me dancing at a Diwali show while I was in my first year of college. He, on the other hand, was in the final year, and I saw him at the same show too when he sang on stage. Fast forward a year and a half later, Neil reached out to a friend of mine to enquirze whether I was single or not, but I wasn’t interested in a relationship at that time, However, destiny intervened, and a few days later I spotted him at a friend’s party. Encouraged by my friends, I went up to him and introduced myself and since then, we’ve been inseparable.”
Explaining the thought process behind selecting the venue, the bride shares, “Both of our families wanted a destination event and we thought that a neutral location would be the best option. In the end, we zeroed in on Goa since it was easier for our families from different states to travel to. Luckily, our friends had just tied the knot at Alila Diwa in Goa and only had good things to say about the place. Inspired by their experience, and after thorough research, we zeroed in on the location.”
With floral archways adorned with vivid blooms, their engagement decor was exquisitely simple and exuded dreamy vibes. However, adding the extra touch, were several quirky elements like food carts and colored tires that expressed the vivacious personality of the couple. Giving an in-depth explanation about the planning part of the event, Veena shared, “Within a span of four months we planned the engagement with my mom and me making multiple trips to India to lay out the groundwork. I think the most challenging part for us was to make sure that we blended both our cultures seamlessly together since I hail from Andhra Pradesh while Neil hails from Kerala.
As for the theme, we didn’t really stress too much about that as our mantra was to ensure that each and every guest had a lot of fun reveling in a well thought out event. Planning an important event like this while simultaneously managing medical school alongside was challenging, but somehow through countless late nights and sheer determination, we made it happen.”
Knowing the importance of having a good photographer on the team for one of the most memorable moments of their life, the duo decided to choose Shutterdown who with their impressive portfolio and expertise impressed them. Veena shares, Team Shutterdown was so easy and fun to work with. Despite this being our first time in front of the camera where we were the sole subjects in focus, not once did Neil and I feel uncomfortable. Their entire team was incredibly patient and provided amazing creative insights that produced such rich pictures. All our suggestions were eagerly received and implemented. We are extremely happy with their work and won’t hesitate to work with them again.”
