This Guy Rerouted His Girlfriend’s Trip To Paris To Surprise Her With A Proposal Near The Eiffel Tower
Wedding Proposals - Mar 19, 2020
This 23-year-old amazed everyone with his creativity and passion as he pulled off a surprise proposal with unhindered views of the Eiffel Tower setting the stage for the big question.
Proposal stories are usually filled with grand gestures and Shyam’s amazing surprise proposal was definitely one for the books. He got down on one knee, asking his girlfriend Shivani to marry him, after an elaborate plan was craftedly carried out.
The plan involved rerouting her NYC trip to Paris, sending a limo to pick her up and putting a red ballroom gown in her room to wear. He flew her friends to Paris from all across the globe to perform in a flash mob with the iconic Eiffel Tower in the background. The best part: he pulled it all off without a single glitch.
How They Met
“As filmy as it may sound, we met as dance partners for our college’s annual Diwali show. We instantly bonded over our mutual love for Bollywood, dancing and Taco Bell. When we got to talking, we learnt we had similar upbringings and values. Soon we had turned into each other’s 3am buddy. We opened up to each other quickly and even talking about our inhibitions was something that seemed easy and natural. During all those deep conversations, we had fallen for each other. Our story was nothing short of a quintessential Bollywood movie. We had our dose of ups and downs, where we dated for two and a half years and then called off the relationship when I moved to Mumbai for work. We both realized that not being together was the hardest thing we could do to ourselves. We eventually got accustomed to a long-distance relationship, after which we officially got engaged.” shares Shivani.
The Proposal
Shivani goes on to share, “Shyam and I were in a long-distance relationship for over a year. I was working in Mumbai and he was in New York City. I didn’t have even the slightest hint that on my way to NYC I’d experience one of the best days of my life. My parents told me our flight from Delhi got rerouted from Frankfurt to Paris. I was clueless and didn’t think much of it. I decided to use our ‘layover’ to go out shopping. As soon as we walked out of the Paris airport, a man, who turned out to be our fantastic videographer, was holding a placard with my name written on it. As soon as I saw it and stopped, he handed me the first note from Shyam. A limo picked me up and took me to a hotel room which was decorated with rose petals. There was a red gown, heels and another note laid out on the bed. I got dressed, went back in the limo and received the final letter, which asked me to watch a 20-minute video. I cannot even begin to explain the amount of work and effort that went into this video. Over ninety of my closest friends and family members sent in choreographed dances and video messages, along with Shyam’s hilarious narrative that weaved it all together. I was blindfolded and brought to a location with a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower. Shyam orchestrated a flash mob and six of our closest friends flew in to surprise me during the dance. Shyam asked my parents for my hand in marriage and got down on one knee. A whole lot of tears, smiles and ‘Oh my gods!’ happened after I said ‘Yes’. I’m still in disbelief. It truly felt like a dream.”
