Some moments feel destined, and for Mridul and Simar, their proposal amidst the golden dunes of Dubai was just that! Thoughtfully brought to life by WeddingSutra Favourite – Ikigaii Planners in under 72 hours, this intimate celebration of love unfolded with effortless grace and heartfelt emotion.
Mridul had a singular request — that Simar should have no idea what was planned until the very last moment. From the outset, discretion was everything. “He wanted it to feel like a simple evening in the desert,” shares Vaibbhav from the Ikigaii team. “Only when they arrived would the surprise gently unfold.”
Hosted in December at the serene Bab Al Shams, a luxury desert resort, the proposal was envisioned as a soft, romantic evening that began at sunset and flowed into a starlit night. Inspired by a pastel-toned boho aesthetic, the setting featured pampas grass, blush florals, rustic textures, and ambient torchlight. A glowing triangular floral arch became the focal point, surrounded by delicate candles and floral clusters that lined the sandy aisle.
“The idea was to create an atmosphere that felt quietly magical,” adds Heital from the planning team. “We wanted the decor to be expressive but never too revealing until the right moment arrived. Every detail was timed and placed with care so the emotion could take centre stage.” A private dinner awaited the couple after the proposal, set under a softly lit canopy with champagne, curated music, and accents that reflected their journey. Even the tiniest touches, like initials woven into the design, were chosen to feel subtle yet deeply meaningful.
Capturing the proposal was the team at Shutterbug Film Company, whose discreet presence ensured that every emotion was preserved with authenticity. “The look on Simar’s face when it all came together was unforgettable,” shares Vaibbhav. “A moment of joy, wonder, and pure love.”
