This Telugu wedding unfolded against a stunning backdrop in Visakhapatnam
Wedding Planning - Oct 22, 2020
Brimming with traditions yet with many contemporary nuances, Sneha and Amar’s Telugu wedding was hosted at the scenic beach town of Visakhapatnam, with a reception later at the ocean-facing Intercontinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort. WeddingSutra Favorite – The Wedding Salad captured the beautiful moments in vivid frames, and here are some highlights of the festivities.
How They Met
Sneha shares, “Amar and I were introduced by a close family friend. My mom’s cousin, who is close to my dad as well, had nothing but praises for Amar. We felt the sparks fly from the moment we started speaking. I was in the US at the time, and had an exciting trip to Egypt coming up, but all I could think about was going to India to meet him. Unknown to anyone else, he came to pick me up at the airport, and the moment I laid eyes on his sweet smile, I knew I had found the one.”
Wedding Planning
With just a month of engagement before the wedding, the bride delved into all aspects of the wedding planning and conceptualized every element to the last detail. Always having dreamt of a beach wedding, the couple picked the beautiful ocean-facing InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort to host their reception, while the wedding festivities took place in Visakhapatnam. Each event was designed and executed by different decorators. To capture their cherished moments, the couple picked The Wedding Salad. The bride shares, “I fell in love with The Wedding Salad the day I saw their Instagram page. I loved how original and candid their work was, as well as their cinematography skills. Their work has brought out the essence and beauty of my wedding.”
Wedding Functions
Haldi
The festivities began with the haldi function, which featured simple yet soulful decor that included elements of Telugu culture such as a profusion of marigold blooms and traditional brass ornaments. Clad in a green saree and adorned with fresh flowers, the bride looked radiant and refreshing as her family smeared her with turmeric paste.
Sangeet
Fun and flamboyant, the sangeet was a night packed with music, dancing and merry moments. The couple and their loved ones performed a number of dances and spent the night grooving with loved ones on the dance floor. Sneha wore a bright blue and fuchsia lehenga by Aisha Rao for this fun event, while Amar opted for an ivory silk outfit.
Pellikuthuru
The ‘pellikuthuru’ (Making of the Bride) preceded the wedding, and the event was a joyful blend of traditions and family bonding moments. The bride shares, “My aunt, who is an artist, made lovely ClayBoat Ceramic candle holders in various subtle colors, and added cute tissue flowers as wedding favors for all guests.”
Wedding
The bride shares, “Walking down the aisle under a canopy of flowers, surrounded by my family and friends felt incredibly special”. The bride looked stunning in a gold and red ensemble which was perfect for as the traditional Telugu wedding ceremony.
Reception
The festivities came to an end with a chic beachside reception party. Strings lights and foliage added a charming feel to the evening as the crashing waves nearby created an enchanting ambiance. The groom looked dapper in a tuxedo, while the bride stunned in a blush pink ensemble by Anushree Reddy.
