This wedding proposal was a heady mix of old-school grandeur and new-age romance!
Wedding Proposals - Apr 21, 2025
From friendship to love – Krittika and Akshay’s journey has been a rollercoaster! And when they finally realised that it’s been love all along, Akshay, along with WeddingSutra Favorite – Believe Happenings, left nothing to chance to plan a heartfelt wedding proposal!
Krittika tells us how they met, “Six years ago, destiny had a curious plan for us—one that, at the time, felt anything but romantic. It all began with what was supposed to be an ordinary lunch. Our mutual friend, Apoorv, had made plans to meet me for lunch and Akshay for dinner. But as time slipped through his fingers, he did what any resourceful friend would do—he merged his calendars. And just like that, Akshay and I found ourselves sitting across from each other, completely unaware that this casual meeting would change the course of our lives. Here’s the twist—we went to the same school, yet our paths had never crossed. And when they finally did? There were no sparks. No butterflies. Just two slightly awkward strangers bonding most unexpectedly—over stories of heartbreak and exes who’d moved on.
Yes, you could say we trauma-bonded. It does not have quite a fairy tale beginning, but sometimes, the most beautiful stories are the ones that don’t start with fireworks but with quiet conversations and shared scars.”
The couple’s love story unfolded in a warm, honest way. And as they got to know each other better, they realised that it was meant to be. Krittika adds, “Akshay and I did not hit it off. We disagreed and we bickered. But somewhere in between the arguments and the sarcasm, something unexpected happened. We became best friends. The kind who had to talk every day, no matter what. The kind who annoyed each other endlessly but somehow never got tired of each other. After years of friendship, countless debates, and a million ‘you’re so annoying’ moments, it suddenly hit us—this wasn’t just friendship anymore. It was something more.
And so, after his birthday party, we finally confessed our feelings to each other. No grand declarations, no over-the-top romance—just two best friends realising they never wanted to be apart.”

The Proposal
“Akshay, being the planner in our relationship, put together a beautiful trip to Udaipur. I, on the other hand, just wanted to go somewhere fancy and enjoy. Little did I know, this trip would change everything. From the moment we landed, things started going slightly off track. Our luggage got delayed, which meant my perfectly planned outfits were not an option. Still, I had a sneaky suspicion that something was up. Then, out of nowhere, he rushed me to get dressed. But did I figure it out? No, I was too busy getting ready for what I thought was just a really fancy dinner. When we arrived, he nonchalantly told me to put my shawl and bag down, and I refused.
And that’s when he pointed at the view.
I turned around, and suddenly, everything clicked. The fairy-tale setting, the breathtaking view, the moment. And before I could even process it, Akshay was on one knee, asking me to spend forever with him”, recollects Krittika.

Miti and Yogesh from Believe Happenings share, “Akshay reached out to us a month before the proposal. His vision? A proposal by the lake, with a palace in the frame. Once the location was locked in, our team delved into the planning and design process, bringing Akshay’s dream to life. From concept to execution, every detail was meticulously crafted. As the couple arrived in Udaipur, we discreetly managed their logistics, ensuring the surprise remained intact.
When the moment arrived, Akshay led his unsuspecting bride-to-be down a picturesque pathway. As they approached the lakefront, a grand ‘Marry Me’ installation stood waiting—framed by the shimmering waters, the palace in the distance, and their favourite songs drifting through the air. The atmosphere was nothing short of magical.”
