Tradition met glamour at this wedding with a Kerala-style welcome, a sleek sangeet, and an extravagant floral wedding mandap
Wedding Planning - Jul 17, 2025
Shreya Soni and Tarun Rathi’s wedding, thoughtfully designed by WeddingSutra Favorite – Watermark Weddings, unfolded as a harmonious blend of culture, style, and celebration. Each event reflected the couple’s vision with a balance of tradition and contemporary flair, curated with subtle elegance and intention.
The festivities began with a Kerala-style welcome steeped in authenticity. Guests were greeted with the resonant beats of Chenda Melam and the layered sounds of Panchavadyam, setting a vibrant tone for the day. A Kathakali performance brought in rich cultural artistry, and the décor embraced the beauty of Kerala’s natural elements with banana leaves, tropical foliage, and floral arrangements. A traditional Sadhya followed, served on banana leaves and accompanied by the melodic Vayali Bamboo Band, offering guests a sensory journey through Kerala’s culinary traditions.
The Welcome Dinner transitioned into a contemporary setting with a palette of blue and gold. Golden accents glowed softly against deep hues, creating an inviting atmosphere. The space was styled with understated sophistication, where every element, from the lighting to the table décor, was designed to enhance the experience without overpowering it. The evening brought guests together in a relaxed setting, defined by its warm hospitality and quiet elegance.
The Sangeet embraced a more modern sensibility, celebrating music through design and mood. The entry tunnel, lit in tones of violet and accented with floral installations, led to a striking stage that reflected the theme of rhythm and celebration. Clean lines, graphic elements, and immersive lighting created an environment that felt dynamic yet polished. The performances brought the space alive, with friends and family celebrating to a soundtrack that mirrored the energy of the couple’s story. It was a night that balanced contemporary style with joyful expression.
For the wedding ceremony, the design leaned into soft romanticism with a fresh and refined approach. A palette of pinks and sunset tones formed the visual foundation, layered with floral arches, botanical arrangements, and custom graphics that brought in gentle warmth. The mandap, dressed in cascading blooms and framed by architectural elements, felt intimate and inviting. The decor drew on organic textures and modern shapes, allowing the couple’s story to unfold in a setting that felt both personal and considered. As the ceremony progressed, every detail, from the aisle to the wedding mandap aligned with the bride’s wish for a magical atmosphere.
