Travel Bloggers Rebecca and Gowtham’s Stunning Pre-Wedding Shoot in Rugged Armenia
Pre Wedding Photoshoots - Aug 27, 2019
Rebecca, an Electronics and Instrumentation engineer, and Gowtham, a doctor pursuing further specialization in Armenia, bonded over a mutual love of travel and passion to see the world, which they now document and share through their Instagram account titled ‘Odysseyoftwo.’ So while planning their wedding, they thought as travel bloggers and planned to capture their essence as a couple with a photographic journey of their love captured in the place where their love blossomed. What followed was a beautiful three-day photo shoot in the rugged terrain of Yerevan, Armenia.
Recalling how they conceptualized the photo shoot, Rebecca says, “Having explored the city extensively and scouring some of the most gorgeous and out of the way locations, we intrinsically knew what we wanted our pictures to capture. We were having a winter wedding, so Yerevan was the perfect choice as it has one of the most beautiful seasonal transitions from autumn to winter.”
Being a three-day shoot, each session was planned across a distinct theme. The first day captured the nostalgia of the Armenian countryside in a vintage colour palette, and the second one focused on the beauty of everyday city life, roaming around and taking in the gorgeous vistas. The last day of the photo shoot was a dawn to dusk storytelling of the love and commitment that the couple felt as they posed on the breathtaking Garni Gorge and the “Symphony of Stones.”
“The picture of us exchanging rings encapsulates the myriad of emotions we felt during the photo shoot, especially the love we felt for each, and the journey we had been on together that got us to where we are today. With our parents looking at us via Facetime, in this moment we felt like we truly became one,” shares Rebecca as she talks about her favorite photo from the shoot.
“Our pre-wedding shoot was one of the most memorable experiences of our lives. Besides the time we spent shooting, we donned our tourist guide avatars and treated our photographers to new cultural experiences as we showed them around.”
The couple got married in December 2018. Both the bride and the groom were born and raised in Chennai, and held most of the functions there. The haldi ceremony held at Gowtham’s residence was a traditional affair resplendent with marigold blooms. The mehendi and beach party were held at the InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort, followed by the wedding and reception at Amma Arangam, Anna Nagar.
