Wedding Planning - May 24, 2017
With every wedding comes a host of functions – whether part of the main celebrations or in the time leading up to the big day. But you don’t need to panic, Aashna Singh, founder of Aash Studio, a design and concept company says, “It’s a common misconception that the more functions there are, the bigger the hole in your pockets! Adopt a DIY attitude and you won’t just save money, but you’ll have the power and satisfaction of customizing every little detail!”
From enchanting ceremony backdrops, luxe décor to lighting tricks, Aashna knows how to transform your home to a center of sophisticated celebration that is very ‘you’! Her team of professionals blend and balance color, space and aesthetics to bring their concepts and designs to life.
Aashna knows from personal experience. She was recently proposed to by her long term boyfriend and hosted a small roka party at home. She tells us how she put her décor together, “I began with a palette of my favorite shades of pink, from the canopy of bougainvillea to the chandelier rose arrangement created using readily available flowers and twine.”
She gives us some insights to get you started on the creative process of decorating your home for the festivities.
Choose a color scheme
Begin with a color scheme. With a working palette, you’ll immediately begin to visualize what the space could look like. An easy, cost-effective way of transforming a house for a wedding is to wield bold, fun colors – think fuchsia, pink, lime green, yellow and ice blue.
Highlight with décor accents and accessories
Your décor accents can be personalized boards with quirky messages, romantic poems, your social media wedding hashtag or anything you want. It brings pops of the personal into the room and maximizes the impact of the space you’re working with.
Attention to small details
It’s always the little things that seem most precious so pay attention to the decorating of the ring thali, the gifts, the packaging. Again, everything can be done at home if you source material and accessories. Adding traditional accents is always lovely and you can bring in the range from personal touches to quirky piques with pinwheels, colorful pots, kaleeras, temple bells or Rajasthani puppets.
