Which tunes will dominate the Indian wedding dancefloor in 2024 and why?
I believe that we’ll see an upward trend in the blend of classic Bollywood hits with modern remixes along with international tracks that have gained popularity among Indian audiences. A wave of house and techno fused with Indian vocals or popular Bollywood songs is becoming increasingly popular for wedding after-parties.
How have Indian wedding entertainment choices evolved over the years?
Indian wedding entertainment has undergone a significant transformation over the years. Traditionally, weddings were centred around live bands and traditional dance performances. However, with technology and globalization, we’ve witnessed a shift towards professional DJs, choreographed dance performances, interactive photo booths, and even celebrity appearances. Couples are now more inclined towards creating a unique and personalized experience for their guests, incorporating traditional as well as contemporary elements.
Snackable content on social media, especially, Reels and TikTok have led to viral tracks making a splash at Indian weddings. Can you give us some interesting anecdotes on the same as an artist?
Viral tracks from social media platforms have made a significant impact on Indian weddings. Very recently, a couple requested me to play a popular track they discovered on TikTok for their first dance. Seeing the entire wedding party groove to a track that gained fame through short video clips was truly a testament to the power of social media in shaping musical preferences at weddings. And, at another wedding where I was performing, a bride surprised her groom with a voiceover before her choreographed dance routine to a viral Reels track! This is a clear example of how social media has not only influenced song choices but also wedding traditions and rituals.
How has social media’s influence in the music industry led you to evolve as a creative?
Social media has revolutionized the way music is discovered, consumed, and shared. As a creative, it has allowed me to stay updated with the latest trends and viral tracks, enabling me to curate playlists that resonate with my audience. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok have provided me with a platform to showcase my talent, connect with clients, and collaborate with other artists. Additionally, social media has allowed me to gather instant feedback from my audience, helping me refine my skills and adapt to changing preferences in real-time.
As a wedding DJ what are the top five things that you keep in mind before finalising a playlist for the event?
– Understand the couple’s music preferences and vision for their wedding.
– Consider the demographics and preferences of the guests attending the event.
– Balance between classic Bollywood hits, contemporary tracks, and international favorites.
– Ensure a seamless flow of music, catering to different moods and moments throughout the event.

What are the three most important things that a couple should keep in mind when selecting a wedding DJ?
– Compatibility: Choose a DJ whose style and personality align with your vision for the wedding. It’s essential to establish a good rapport and ensure that they understand your musical preferences and expectations.
