Wedding Planner Tasneem Nalwalla of ATP Events and Celebrations talks about multicultural Indian weddings and Post-Pandemic Celebrations
Wedding Planning - Sep 21, 2021
Launched in 2017, Mumbai-based ‘At This Point Events and Celebrations’ quickly emerged as one of the most trending wedding designers and planners in the country as it swiftly made a mark in the world of weddings. Led by Tasneem Nalwalla, the talented team of ATP Events has won the hearts of numerous couples across the country and abroad by orchestrating the most stunning celebrations for them and have even expanded Internationally to cater to an ever-growing audience.
Today, Founder Tasneem Nalwalla shares her journey in a candid conversation, as she looks at the future of Indian weddings.
Tasneem, you left a legacy family business to make your own mark as a wedding planner. Tell us about your journey so far.
“It has been a very interesting journey so far, with its fair share of ups and downs. It took me some time to make a mark in the wedding planning industry since I had no previous background or experience in this field. But I believe that if you have love and passion for your choice of profession, you can easily face the challenges that come your way. The latest challenge has of course been the covid-19 pandemic, which has brought about a whole new change in the concept of wedding planning. But overall, it has been a fulfilling experience to nurture and build my company and bring it to where it is today.”
What would you say is your personal style of event planning that sets you apart from others in your business?
“We believe in concentrating on every tiny detail, giving direction, focus and flow to the event. We have always placed a lot of focus on hospitality and making each and every member present for the wedding feel special and included. Our main focus never shifts from the couple.”
What kind of weddings have you majorly planned? Tell us about some of the most memorable client requests/ experiences you have curated.
“We specialize in cross-cultural weddings. They are an ode to the unity and vibrant mix of cultures in our country. Love knows no boundaries or barriers, and these festivities are brimming with joy as everyone celebrates with an open heart.
One of the most simple and memorable requests was made by Abbas & Aditi. They wanted to commemorate their deceased loved ones during their reception and pay homage to them on their special day. So in the midst of all the celebrations we took a break where they made a small speech for each of their relatives, and then we released a dove in their memory.”
Destination Weddings v/s Staycation Weddings – what’s your pick and why?
“Unfortunately, travel hasn’t been easy of late considering the constantly changing restrictions, hence my pick would be Staycation Weddings. It’s a great way to get your whole family together under one roof so you have to worry less about logistics and safety risks of people traveling during the Pandemic.”
Modern weddings are a blend of traditions and trends. When it comes to weddings and clients, is there any particular culture you have more experience with working in? What have you learned from your experiences?
“Most of the weddings have been cross-cultural so no two weddings have been the same ever. It has been a great experience to blend two cultures to create a wedding that makes both sides happy at the same time. However, irrespective of religion or culture, the anxieties, joy, excitement and emotions are the same across all weddings.”
Post-covid, what are your views on the future of Indian weddings? What, according to you, is that one wedding trend that should never go out of style?
“Indian weddings are here to stay! Although, there has been a slight deviation in the trends & outlooks of people. For instance, previously for the same budget, more guests were accommodated but now the focus has shifted to including personalized details and making every guest feel more involved in the celebrations.”
What does the future hold for ATP Events and Celebrations? Do you plan to expand into international weddings?
ATP Events and Celebrations has already opened up its branch in Orlando and Dubai this year. Events and weddings are continuing in Orlando with minimal restrictions and we have already done two weddings there so far.
