Our third dispatch is from a stylish little party at Jet Gems, the jewellery store in Bandra to celebrate the launch of their new line ‘Canvas’ by three young, talented designers- Nachiket Barve, Nishka Lulla and Nikhil Thampi.
The sparkle of the evening came courtesy an eclectic, fun mix of guests ranging from the city’s most cutting edge fashionistas to patrons of the three designers and Jet Gems’ discerning clientele. Pradeep Jethani and his family personally welcomed invitees who included top designers Anita Dongre and Neeta Lulla, style icon, fashion entrepreneur and now actress, Pernia Qureshi and a bevy of Bollywood and society personalities like Mandira Bedi, Vidya Malvade, Esha Gupta, Avantika Malik Khan and Krishika Lulla.
The ‘Canvas’ collection is positioned as playful and modern, hand-crafted, yet affordable. Here, each of the designers describes the line.
Nishka Lulla: “The feel is very bright and vibrant. Inspired by nature, the statement pieces have an edgy twist with the use of red tourmalines, green peridots and aqua blue stones.”
Nachiket Barve: “The collection includes the ‘diamond dew drop’ line where the texture of hand sculpted metal, prominently gold, is celebrated in the motifs of lotus and water lily leaves. These can be paired with a classic LBD, a stunning chiffon sari or even with a crisp white shirt and draped dhoti pants!”
Nikhil Thampi: “My creations feature an interesting mix of long earrings and geometric rings, with a playful mix of coloured stones in every piece. This line is an ode to all those women, who break from the conventions of society and stand out as sparkling examples of innocence, strength and purity.”
