Meet Bangalore Brides’ Favourite Makeup Artists
Bridal Fashion and Beauty - Dec 17, 2015
As part of WeddingSutra’s Women Wedding-Entrepreneurs Series, we are shining the spotlight on Bangalore Brides’ Favourite Makeup Artists.
Gouri Kapur
I worked as a merchandiser with a Bangalore clothing company. I got married at 18 and was raising my first child at 23. So when he was three, I decided to follow my instinct and get into make-up.
In those days, people didn’t differentiate between a parlour and actual make-up artistry. But things have changed. You can tell it is an art – whether it is bridal, fashion, ad-films – the different forums are challenging and extremely satisfying and I love every aspect of my art form. Bridal make-up allows me to make every person as beautiful as they can be.
My canvas is different each time. However, even if my canvas didn’t change, the challenge would be to make it beautifully different each time. At my studio everyone is a celebrity walking the red carpet and I ensure they feel it!!

An early education in Chemistry and Botany went a long way in helping me understand the elements that go into make-up and gauge different products for different types of skin. I have a degree in art from Chitra Kala Parishad and pursued painting for two years. Nature and art inspire me. I’ve worked with everyone: kids, brides, models, professional athletes across fashion shows, product shoots, fashion magazine editorials, couture weeks, ramp shows. I’ve been featured by Vogue India as one of the best bridal make-up artists.
When it comes to bridal make-up, I make sure I communicate with the client from the minute they book. Make up and hair must express the character of the person and that is the best part about my job. Communication is key!
I also get to know the entire family and on the final day, when we meet for the wedding, I’m already part of the celebration. (Which also explains my weight problem!)

Chandini and Shreya
Chandini was a teacher; I’d worked in the corporate world for nearly 9 years. I’ve always loved make-up. I remember trying on all of my mum’s lipsticks when I was 4. One day, I realized I wanted to be a make-up artist and there was no looking back. Chandini decided to join me and handle hair.
We work as a team. While a lot of Chandini’s skills are self-acquired, she has trained in Mumbai. I’ve trained with top artists in Bangalore and New York. We specialize in all kinds of make-up and offer traditional as well as airbrush services.
That look on our client’s face once she’s ready, that’s what we love most about our job! It is the most satisfying feeling ever.

I have a diploma in Apparel Designing And Fashion Technology. But my passion for make-up motivated me to opt for this as a career.
I specialize in Bridal Makeovers and my services include make-up, hairstyle, saree draping and styling.
What I love most about my job is being the reason behind every bride’s happy, satisfied smile!

Before I got into professional makeup I ran a small quaint restaurant in Bangalore.
I specialize in bridal and party makeup with the emphasis on clean, feature-enhancing, camera-ready makeup for women of all ages and complexions.
When I started doing makeup, I quickly realized how much fun it was to exercise control over one’s appearance, confidence, and personal style. It’s amazing what a difference the little things can make! I was hooked.

Though I’m an MBA, I was passionate about fashion, travel and make-up. My husband encouraged me to find my own identity and make full use of my time and talent. I’ve been in this field for four years now and have thoroughly loved my journey.
I’ve worked in ad films, fashion shows and with corporate and celebrity make-up but I specialize in bridal make-up which is something I thoroughly enjoy. Bridal make-up gives me a chance to make someone’s special day even more special.
It’s a magical feeling when a bride looks at herself, smiles and says this is what she always wanted to look like on her big day. I prefer to keep the look natural and elegant with special focus on the eye makeup.
