With dreamy floral décor, Wedding Planner Kanika Kumria’s wedding revelries will leave you mesmerized
Wedding Planning - Jun 19, 2020
Wedding planner Kanika Kumria tied the knot with Varun in an exquisite wedding at ITC Maurya days before the nation went under lockdown. Planned and executed by WeddingSutra Favorite – Kaleerein by Kanika Kumria, which is also the bride’s own company, the celebrations saw standout decor and a starry guest list.
How They Met
The bride shares, “Varun and I met in college through a common friend and instantly felt a connection. He would often help me with my French and sparks soon started flying. After more than a decade of togetherness, Varun finally decided to take the next step. He had shifted to Dubai, and over a trip that I took to visit him, he popped the question at a romantic date”.
Wedding Venue
The Delhi-based bride and planner decided to host the wedding in her hometown and found the perfect venue at ITC Maurya, New Delhi.
Wedding Planning
The planning and execution of the wedding was carried out by the bride’s wedding planning company, Kaleerein by Kanika Kumria. She shares, “My team planned the celebrations with the same zeal and creativity they bring to every wedding. Every aspect of the festivities captured and reflected our personalities very well.”
Pooja, Mehndi, Haldi
The festivities kicked off with customary pooja, mehndi and haldi ceremonies that were hosted at the bride’s home. Vibrant colors, flowers, bells, earthen pots, fairy lights and other quirky elements added to the authentic Punjabi ambiance and energy.
Cocktail
A dreamy entrance of mirrors, abundant foliage, candles and sparkling chandeliers beckoned guests into the Mor Bagh venue where the engagement cocktail ceremony was hosted. Green backdrops and thousands of candles ruled the decor for the evening. Gracing the occasion were guests from the corporate world, diplomats, bureaucrats and celebrities. Guests were entertained by Emcee Swati Prabhakar and were seen dancing the night away to rousing numbers by DJ Siddharth.
Wedding
Hosted at the grand ITC Maurya hotel in New Delhi, the wedding was a star-studded affair that saw the likes of ambassadors, senior bureaucrats, VVIPs, celebrities, sports personalities. Prominent names included Kapil Sharma, Mika Singh, Sunil Grover, Kapil Dev, Madan Lal, Rohit Bal, Zora Randhawa, and Sardar Singh. Designed by Akhil Paul, the abundant floral decor with lavender, blush, and white blooms created a magical ambiance with the sheer drapes bathed in the warm lights from vintage chandeliers. A rose-strewn aisle flanked by a verdant border led to the domed mandap. The bride looked stunning in a pastel ensemble by Payal Keyal, while the groom looked perfectly coordinated in a Varun Bahl ensemble.
Advice for couples
“You’ve found your match, now all you need is to find the perfect wedding planner who can give you happy memories. Also, since the process can often get too overwhelming, take some time out to enjoy with your partner, friends and family every once in a while to get back into the wedding spirit. My biggest tip however is to forget about the tiny details, because in the end love is what matters.”
