With WeddingSutra on Location – The Raymond Shop @ Andheri
All About Grooms, WeddingSutra on Location - May 4, 2014
As part of our initiative ‘WeddingSutra on Location’, we invited six grooms-to-be for a unique experience at The Raymond Shop in Andheri (West), Mumbai. Here, Hitesh Joshi, a Product Manager, Prasun Agarwal, an Entrepreneur, Venkat Narayan, a Wedding & Event Planner, Karan Arora, an Entrepreneur, Rakesh Tripathi, a Management Consultant and Jayesh Fargose, an Executive in a Corporate House, share their experiences.
Hitesh has been a loyal Raymond fan and always gets his suits customized by them, he says, “After trying different options, I selected a navy blue jacket, which we paired with a contrasting pink shirt and a printed pocket square.” Rakesh also chose a royal blue blazer and teamed it with beige trousers and a dark red shirt. Says Rakesh, “We were presented so many options in Grooms wear, so initially I think most of us were confused. But after the interaction with the Raymond team, we got a better idea on what would be suitable for each one of us”.

Jayesh talks about his bandhgala suit: “Virendra from Raymond was very helpful and he shared some useful tips too. He told me to try a black bandhgala suit, and once I did, I felt it looked great on me!” Karan agrees: “Virendra recommended a Jodhpuri that fitted me perfectly. The style and cut seemed perfect, I have now decided to wear a Jodhpuri for my formal engagement ceremony!”

Prasun decided to try two different looks. “For my first look, I wore a classic Indian Sherwani, with matching accessories. For the second, I wore a gray fitted suit, with a contrast mint green shirt and turquoise blue tie. I would not have tried that combination, had it not been for the gentle persuasion by The Raymond team, I’m glad I listened to them because I liked the look.” The other three groom, Rakesh, Venkat and Hitesh opted for a Western look.

Says Venkat, “I tried on a navy blue poly viscose slim fit suit. The fit was great and the color outstanding. For the accessories, I selected cuff-links, a red slim tie and a pocket square of the same color and I switched to a bow tie for a different look soon after.”
Venkat Narayan
After picking their wear, the grooms-to-be moved on to getting their hair styled by Laksh Singh. Says Karan: “Laksh is a very talented stylist, and he took a lot of effort to make each of us look dapper.”
The next and final session was the photo shoot with Candid Photographer Monisha Ajgaonkar of The Photo Diary. Says Rakesh, “Monisha, was very friendly and spontaneous, and she didn’t make any of us feel conscious in front of the camera. In fact, she shared some useful feedback on how to pose.”
Says Prasun, “WeddingSutra on Location provided us an invaluable opportunity – to interact with experts on grooming & style, and it was a great platform to chat with other grooms-to-be too.” Hitesh declares, “When my fiancée informed me she is recommending my name to WeddingSutra I was initially very hesitant. But I’m so glad she pushed me into it. The concept is fantastic and the whole team was very professional and friendly.” Concludes Venkat, “A typical Saturday morning for me as a wedding planner would start with confirming meetings for the day and meeting clients or vendors and visiting venues. This Saturday, I was lucky to get a break and enjoy a different experience with WeddingSutra on Location at the Raymond store.”
