Witness movie magic comes alive in this larger-than-life Bollywood-themed Mehndi and Sangeet!
Wedding Planning - Dec 18, 2023
Mumbai-based Fashion Designer Aditi Singh’s wedding to Bangalore-based Entrepreneur Apoorv Kumar was an intimate affair brimming with colors and emotions. Planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – Foreign Wedding Planners, their festivities were rooted in tradition while also reflecting their vibrant personalities. Watch it all unfold below.
Wedding Planning
The couple envisioned a celebration full of Bollywood flavor while still honoring their cultural roots, and entrusted the team of Foreign Wedding Planners to bring their ideas to life. The team shares, “The challenge was to do a tried-and-tested Bollywood theme but in a fresh and classy way. Also, when orchestrating the wedding in a quaint town in Bihar, we did not have great access to good wedding production companies, resources, and the kind of vendors and artists that were needed for the decor. Team Foreign Wedding Planners however handled the full decor design, customized production, and event planning as per the themes in a beautiful way.”

Mehndi and Sangeet
Being a massive fan of Shahrukh Khan and Bollywood in general, Aditi dreamed of a Mehndi and Sangeet full of filmy flair! Huge 7ft posters of Bollywood movies adorned the walls creating the impression of being in a theater, while thousands of gleaming bulbs made the event shine with studio glamor. Red carpets, Filmfare magazines, larger-than-life statues of the Oscar trophy, popcorn centerpieces, and a salty and sweet candy bar added to the spirit of the evening. An amazing singer duo opened the evening for the mehndi ceremony, while Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan’s duplicates from Mumbai were flown in to make everyone groove to choreographed songs. A Filmfare booth made for a befitting photo-op, and the huge stage provided a magnificent platform for the family performances!
Wedding
Aditi and Apoorv wanted their wedding to be steeped in traditions and reverberate with the spiritual energy of Bodhgaya, so the entire decor was themed around the tranquility of ‘Darshan at a Temple’. The entrance was adorned with Sanskrit mantras and slokas depicting the beauty of ancient India and led first to a small Ganesh Mandir. Gota fans, brass bells, jasmine gajras, kalawas, terracotta horses and elephants, mirrored jharokas, ghungroos, and a phoolon-ki-mandi conjured the image and ambiance of Indian temples. The couple exchanged garlands as 8 pandits, brought specially from Banaras, performed the sacred Ganga Aarti with holy chants. The stage was built with golden pillars and a floral backdrop, while the mandap depicted a divine Bodhi Tree with countless tear-drop crystals from an upside-down Peepal tree.
