My Best Friend Disha’s Wedding
Bride Disha Shah and her bridesmaids spent a day with L’Oréal Paris and Kalyan Jewellers exploring styles for her big day.
The sweltering summer brings its own delights – lying by the pool, ice-lollies and of course, a palette of cool colors to wear. This is aqua tone season and with good reason – not only do these hues help you beat the heat in style, they’re a tall, cool glass of water to your wardrobe.
Disha and her best friends went cool blue for this shoot and each one of the tribe flaunted the colors with ease and élan!
At the Courtyard by Marriott Mumbai International Airport, makeup artist Ojas Rajani created for them one of a kind looks with products by L’Oréal Paris. These long wear products had them look radiant through the day despite the heat. Ojas also gave the girls youthful hairstyles that best suited their hair textures and were perfect to enhance their outfits. Aza Fashions, India’ premium multi-designer fashion destination lined up an extensive collection for the girls to choose from and each stepped out looking like Poseidon’s princess.
The ultimate touch of grace and elegance was via Kalyan Jewellers whose one-of-kind pieces of fine jewellery are testimony to fine craftsmanship that seamlessly blends contemporary and traditional aesthetics. In awe of the treasury at their fingertips, bridesmaid Jamila said, “When I saw the pieces, I thought they looked gorgeous but I wasn’t sure if I needed any jewellery to go with my outfit. However, when I put them on, I realized the difference it made. Every piece I wore looked wonderful and truly accentuated my look. They match my taste in ornaments perfectly and are something I would want to own!”

Out on the lush lawns of the property, Florique Decor created a beautiful backdrop for the gang to pose against that instantly got them in the right mood to have fun in front of the camera. WhatKnot made the most of this opportunity and didn’t miss a moment of the merrymaking. The deftly captured pictures reflected the joy and warmth between the girls and preserved their memories of the day beautifully.
“This day has been full of moments we are going to remember for a lifetime,” said bride-to-be Disha Shah. Encapsulating her experience, she said, “I’m not going to lie, it was a very long day and by the end of it, we sure were tired. However, it was worth every second we put in. We had so much fun and this wasn’t only with our friends but the entire WeddingSutra team!”
Bridesmaid Anusha couldn’t agree more, “Even working with team WhatKnot was so great! While they knew exactly what they wanted, they still managed to be very patient with us. This was so important because we aren’t professional models and they understood that so well.” Signing off, Disha said, “The kind of teams WeddingSutra collaborates with is top notch. When I entered the room and saw Ojas was going to be doing our makeup, I could not believe it! I was so thrilled. Our pictures are brilliant and I’m sure no-one other than WeddingSutra would be able to give us such a quality experience.”
Bride-to-be Disha Shah
To go with Disha’s gorgeous outfit in blue and gold, makeup artist Ojas Rajani created dramatic eyes that reflected the summer sky. The L’Oréal Paris Color Riche La Palette Gold was at hand – comprising 10 highly pigmented shades to flatter every skin tone. It was all Ojas needed. She completed the eye makeup with the L’Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes Mascara for show-stopping lashes that were both thick and long. Disha’s bridal look was complete with the velvet textured L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss that’s soft on lips and stays all day long.
Disha was left impressed, not just by Ojas’s skills but also by the eye palette chosen for her. She said, “This is definitely one of the best eye color palettes I have come across. The market is flooded with so many, some of them have 20 shades, but they’re of no use really. This palette was a strategic pick of tones and hues that can be used for everything from a formal occasion to regular wear. I’m planning to buy it for myself.”
Disha opted for a sea green lehenga from Aza Fashions which she matched with a kundan neck piece from Kalyan Jewellers. Telling us about her love for chokers she said, “I can never have too many chokers! Selecting this set didn’t take me longer than a heartbeat. The design is so pretty. It went perfectly with my outfit and enhanced the entire look. I absolutely love it!”

Bridesmaid Shehzeen Merchant
L’Oréal Paris Color Riche La Palette Gold was makeup artist Ojas Rajani’s product of choice when creating bridesmaid Shehzeen’s look. While the curated shades inspired by makeup designers’ ‘Must Have’ palettes enabled her to explore a dramatic spectrum of colors, the designer applicator that came along with the box ensured effortless application. To enhance her ethereal look, Ojas used the L’Oréal Paris Volume Million Lashes Mascara that instantly gave her fuller looking lashes. Packaged in a tube with an in-built excess wiper that removes excess mascara for no clumps, the product’s ‘millionizer’ brush separates lashes for a fanned-out lash look.
“I liked my outfit and thought it was very pretty. My makeup was great too, but the work that Ojas had done on my eyes was simply stunning,” Shehzeen said, “It wasn’t too understated and it wasn’t in your face – Ojas struck the perfect balance. It was brilliant!”
Shehzeen also loved her jewellery, “The kundan earrings by Kalyan Jewellers complemented my outfit from Aza Fashions very well. The intricate work on the bodice had a sense of freshness while the long traditional looking earrings brought an Indian vibe to the mix. And I love how versatile the jewellery pieces were. They could easily be would with both, ethnic and contemporary attires.

Bridesmaid Jamila Pittalwala
The earthy tones of the 90s are very much back and Jamila’s look by makeup artist Ojas Rajani revisited that style with a little help from the L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Le Stylo Smoky Eye Shadow in 109 Le Grand Or and L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Le Stylo Smoky Eye Shadow in 102 Delicate Wood. This creamy eye tint, packed with deep pigments provides a rich payoff in every swipe thus creating immediate impact. The built-in kabuki brush at the end of the stick helped Ojas create a smokey effect on the outer corners of her eyes. She finished her look using the L’Oréal Paris Brow Artist Xpert in Ebony. The retractable brow pencil comes with an inbuilt soft styling brush and gave Jamila perfectly defined, fuller looking brows instantly. Ojas chose a fresh plum shade from the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss for Jamila which gave a high-impact velvet matte effect without the lips drying out.
Jamila loved the ornaments from Kalyan Jewellers and her makeup was a revelation, “I was so pleased with my makeup, especially the eyes. The products used were not only great but also well priced!” As for her outfit from Aza Fashions, she said, “I loved the color of the lehenga so much. The blouse with its intricate embroidery and the skirt with its beautiful ruffles amalgamated ethnic and contemporary styles to produce a very unique looking garment. I would say that it was a very beautiful outfit.”

Bridesmaid Aashna Mehta
For Aashna, makeup artist Ojas Rajani created a look using the same eyeshadow palette she did for Disha. But the true versatility of the palette was proven when Aashna’s look was very different from Disha’s. Picking lighter hues from the L’Oréal Paris Color Riche La Palette Gold, the easy to apply formula facilitated flawless color mixing and Ojas rendered high definition eyes by lining her lids with thin strokes of the L’Oréal Paris Superliner Black Lacquer. The intense black liquid liner comes with a special sponge tipped pen which helps render even the finest lines with precision. The unique pro-sculpt applicator of the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss in a warm shade helped Ojas define and add shape to Aashna’s lips.
“My makeup was fabulous. That’s the only way I can describe it,” Aashna said smiling, “The products that were used worked very well in creating a look that went with both my clothes as well as the structure of my face. I couldn’t have been happier with the way it turned out.”
Like her gang of girls, she loved her lehenga from Aza Fashions, “The ghagra I wore matched my style perfectly. The tasseled blouse and the lightweight skirt were perfect for this shoot.” A pair of earrings and a cocktail ring by Kalyan Jewellers went perfectly with her attire and her attitude, “My diamond jhumkas were beautiful. I thought it was great that they made use of both, yellow and white gold making it so much more wearable that single tone jewellery. The pearl drop added a touch of the delicate to the piece.” Picking a favorite she said, “The ring was something special though! The flower detailing and the center stone were spectacular. It was just what was needed to add a touch of glam to the overall look.”

Bridesmaid Krupa Kapadia
When it comes to eyeshadow, playing with color can be tricky unless of course you’re a master artist like Ojas Rajani who transformed Krupa’s eyelids into an eye-catching piece of art by getting all the shades on them exactly right with the help of L’Oréal Paris Color Riche La Palette Gold. She then lined her eyes and eyelids using the L’Oréal Paris Super Liner Gel Intenza 36H – Profound Black. Its luxurious gel texture glides on easily and its long-wearing formula is designed to last up to 24 hours without smearing. An deal pick for a day like this.
When Krupa saw her makeup, she was stoked, “I love the way I looked and the best part without a doubt was the eye makeup. It showed how skilled Ojas is as a makeup artist.” As for her clothes, she didn’t mind stepping out of her comfort zone when making the selection. She said, “I wore an anarkali from Aza Fashions which was very pretty though not really my usual style. I gave it a try nonetheless and I was very happy about making that decision. It was great to try it out.”

Bridesmaid Anushi Mehta
King Midas was makeup artist Ojas Rajani’s source of inspiration when creating Anushi’s look and she turned her vision to reality using L’Oréal Paris Color Riche La Palette Gold. The deep color of the product was elemental giving her eyes a dramatic appearance. This strong look needed brows that stood out. So Ojas pulled out the L’Oréal Paris Brow Artist Genius Kit Medium To Dark and sculpted her eyebrows into shape using the spooley brush that comes along with it.
Anushi’s outfit of choice was a sea green gown from Aza Fashions. The ensemble came with a fringed cape that featured intricate embroidery on the shoulders. To go with this contemporary look she picked out a pair of gorgeous floral earrings from Kalyan Jewellers, “Jewellery with floral designs are not uncommon but what makes the pair of earrings I wore stand out is the timeless charm it radiates with. The asymmetrical stones, set in proportioned frames balanced form with whimsical aesthetics making it a design that is one-of-a-kind.”
