My Best Friend Ilesha’s Wedding

Call it the girl-gang, the mod-squad, the cute crew, having your besties by your side at the most important times in your life is an unparalleled feeling.

Girls just want to have fun and bride-to-be Ilesha Kharbanda was dreaming of a fun pre-wedding shoot with her band of bachelorettes. When she found out she’d been selected for the My Best Friend’s Wedding photoshoot with WeddingSutra, she knew exactly who was going to accompany her on her special day.

For the shoot, Ilesha and her bridesmaids were adorned with the choicest of shimmering lehengas from Flyrobe– a website that offers rented designer at an affordable price. They also were glammed with the newest range of the L’Oreal Paris Gold Obsession Collection makeup and Casting Creme Gloss hair color, that made them look every bit of glam queens on the shoot day.

With only two months to go to the big day, Ilesha called on Angelica, Nirvi, Sakshi and Ishna to accompany her for this opportunity to rehearse their pouts and poses. A ‘mock bridal photo shoot’ was just what is needed before you pose for real.

The girls made their way to the luxurious suites of the JW Marriott, Juhu oohing and aahing at the plush interiors, sprawling spaces and beautiful vistas. Ilesha says it put them at ease immediately, “The room was so beautiful and cozy we instantly felt comfortable.”

Makeup had always been something the girls bonded over. So when makeup artists Amrita Verma and Dilshad Ukaji took out their “magic wands” (aka her brushes and kit) and the girls got a sneak peek at the new Gold Obsession collection from L’Oréal, they were delighted!

The bride-to-be decided to go with the flow, “I completed surrendered to her as I really trusted her instincts. She used the best products on me to make my face look absolutely flawless. The gold-infused matte lipstick in Mocha Gold really added a glow to my face; the shimmery gold eyes were created using the La Palette, also helped in completing my entire look”

Ilesha also colored her hair with the L’oreal Casting Crème gloss that added a much-needed dimension to her hair, “This is the first time I colored my hair and I must confess, I am glad I did it! The color added a healthy shine to my hair and is also ammonia-free, which will ensure that it is properly conditioned and protected just before my big day!”

Then it was time to throwback to when they were little and play ‘dress up’. Except, this time the closets were stocked with gorgeous lehengas from Flyrobe! Ilesha fell in love with a lehenga that was pretty-in-pink with intricate zari embellishments. “I’m wearing pink at my wedding too,” she said, “so this lehenga from Kalki just makes me feel like a bride!”

Her bridesmaids chose to contrast with the bright bridal hues with a peach and gold palette. Nirvi picked a gown in beige net silk, with a yoke embellished with golden floral embroidery. Sakshi looked beautiful in a Shaista Jalal Qazi angarkha style Anarkali made of peach georgette. Angelica twirled in a stunning embroidered lehenga in peach and gold from Flyrobe’s Jiya by Veer collection. Ishna went full glam with a House of Ombre peach lehenga that combined flowy net with a raw silk blouse.

Stylish clothing requires jewellery to match and the girls picked antique, heirloom jewellery from VelvetCase. Wary of heavy jewellery, the designs from Velvetcase took the bride by surprise, “I like comfort with my jewellery. These earrings, necklace and maang tikka went perfectly with my ensemble. It was grand but not heavy to wear. And look at my beautiful bridesmaids! They’re so beautiful all dolled up with bangles, earrings, necklaces… all from this gorgeous line of jewellery!”

Finally, it was time to capture this day for posterity. And also, have a fun photo session with photographer Rajesh Dembla! With the skill of an experienced professional, Dembla chatted with the girls constantly to make them feel comfortable and sneak in a few candid shots. And he also managed to shoot a candid video! Sakshi beams, “Rajesh Dembla was so patient with us. He was so jovial while shooting pictures and the video. The process wasn’t stressful at all, we just enjoyed every bit of it.”

It was easy to see that while they chatted and adjusted their outfits and touched up their makeup, Ilesha began to feel quite emotional about the shoot and what was coming, “I am getting married in two months so this was the perfect time for me to spend with my best friends. I am happy that even they got to play dress up and enjoy this special day just as much as I did! I thank WeddingSutra for this wonderful experience that my friends and I will surely remember for a lifetime”
