The latest edition of this popular bridal initiative took place at the sprawling Anita Dongre Store in Mumbai. In the second of this three-part series, bride-to-be Pooja stepped into the world of top-notch bridal styles and services. Her contagious smile and unmatched grace were only accentuated by her makeover.
As much as we love a classic red or deep plum lip, there’s something alluringly fresh about the pink lipstick trend. And sure, we love to call ourselves beauty risk-takers, but let’s face it – we’re creatures of habit who gravitate to our go-to products and colors day after day. We’re just skipping the needless experimentation and going with what our trusted makeup artist Mausam Gandhi says – think pink.
Mausam picked an amazing pink lip color for Pooja from the Lakmé Absolute Matte Ultimate Collection. Armed with more products from the Kareena Kapoor Khan collection she transformed this bride-to-be. WeddingSutra experts chose a yellow lehenga from Anita Dongre‘s latest bridal couture capsule collection based on the art of Pichhwai. Accessorised with stunning bridal jewellery pieces from Pink City by Anita Dongre, Team Whatknot enjoyed being behind the lens all day, turning every significant moment of this makeover into an everlasting memory.
They say that there’s a ‘red’ for everyone but that’s the problem too – everyone wears red. Can another color look as special? Make a statement? Enhance the visage? Makeup artist Mausam Gandhi introduced Pooja to a pink that does all of the above! With a go-ahead from the bride-to-be, Mausam unleashed Pooja’s inner diva! With her precious kit stocked entirely with trusted products from Lakmé’s newest range – the Lakmé Absolute Matte Ultimate Collection as well as the existing Kareena Kapoor Khan Collection by Lakmé Absolute range, and her expertise, the talented makeup artist created a glowing visage and styled her hair. Pooja says, “Everything about the makeup she did was so beautiful. The look was natural, enhanced my features and Mausam gave me skincare tips too!”
The yellow Anita Dongre creation chosen for this bride-to-be had an intricately designed skirt and a blouse paired with a white dupatta. Her attire was the perfect example of the minute detailing and baroque style handwork inspired by the art of Pichhwai. Pooja adds, “The outfit was just gorgeous. The color was so pretty and enhanced my complexion. What was remarkable was that despite the intricate embroidery that covered the fabric, the outfit was lightweight and easy to move around in; a combination that will be welcomed by every bride!”
The contemporary notes of the outfit were perfectly tempered with traditional Indian jewellery from the expertly curated Pink City by Anita Dongre range – a refreshing combination of aesthetics. “The jewellery designs were all so pretty! I wore the most gorgeous necklace set, matched with a maang tikka, some beautiful gold kadas and a ring. The instant I put them on the whole look came together.”
Pooja admitted she was hesitant about posing in front of the camera until she found her comfort zone courtesy the photography team. “Team WhatKnot were so easy to work with! I had no clue about what to do with myself in front of the camera so the photographer initially kept giving me ideas about where I should look, how I should stand and so on. As soon as I got the drift, all I had to do was be my natural self. I thought the candid photos turned out very well. While I was at it, Team WeddingSutra ensured that I was comfortable at all times.”
Pooja’s Look
Makeup artist Mausam Gandhi began by using the Lakmé Absolute Illuminating Foundation creating a clean canvas for her to work on.
To set it, she patted on a layer of Lakmé Absolute White Intense Wet & Dry Compact. The Lakmé Absolute Illuminating Eye Shadow Palette – Gold was her trusted tool to draw focus to the eyes; she lined her waterline with Lakmé Absolute Kohl Ulitmate in black. By lightly applying the Lakmé Absolute Sun Kissed Bronzer she brought some color to her face and completed her look with a pretty pout created using Lakmé Absolute Matte Ultimate Argan Oil Lipstick in Orchid Pink.
