Prekshaa Sharma – Ritu Kumar

As part of our initiative WeddingSutra on Location, we invited four brides-to-be for a unique experience at designer Ritu Kumar’s flagship store in Lower Parel, Mumbai. Starting with a Style Consultation, followed by a Makeover and a Photo Shoot, each of the participants got an opportunity to interact with some of the best names in Bridal & Wedding services.

Here, in the third of the four-part series, bride-to-be Prekshaa Sharma writes about her On Location experience at Ritu Kumar.

“Waking up to an email response from the WeddingSutra team inviting me to be part of ‘WeddingSutra on Location’ was a wonderful early morning surprise. I have been following their website and blog for over two years and was elated to be one of the few lucky brides to be part of this one of a kind experience.

I reached Ritu Kumar’s store next to Phoenix Mills in Lower Parel, where I met the WeddingSutra team who put together the ‘On Location’ event every month. They introduced me to the experts who were invited to give the brides-to-be the dress rehearsal. Post a quick chat with all the experts I went on to see the bridal collection by Ritu Kumar. I liked quite a few of her traditional creations, and we shortlisted three options. After trying them all, I decided on a chic lehenga in a dark blue shade, with heavy embroidery and a light blue dupatta. I would have never picked this color myself, so I am glad the team persuaded me into trying this outfit, which I felt looked lovely on me- a seamless reception outfit in a contemporary color and with traditional embroidery.

After the outfit selection, it was time for hair and make-up. Amrita Sanghavi is well-known for her amazing bridal makeovers, so I let her take a call on what she felt would look best on me. She decided to give me smokey eyes with soft pink lips. For my hairstyle, Amrita and her team retained my fringe and left the remaining hair down, adding soft curls at the ends. I was thrilled to see the transformation. The narcissist in me could not take her eyes off the mirror after Amrita was done!

The team then helped me complete my look with a stunning gold choker set and earrings by Azva.

It was finally time for the photo shoot with ace wedding and fashion photographer Dev Purbiya. Though I have never been shy in front of the camera, I sometimes feel I smile a little too much. It was a pleasure shooting with Dev and he shared some easy-to-follow tips on posing.

I got engaged some months ago but it was only when I looked at myself in the mirror that day, did I finally feel like a bride-to-be! This is an experience I will treasure for life, thank you team WeddingSutra!”

Prekshaa’s Look
Since Prekshaa was wearing a dark blue lehenga, Makeup artist Amrita Sanghavi chose to go neutral with her makeup. Amrita started with using the Lakmé Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse in Beige Honey to create a base. She later applied the Lakmé Absolute Face Stylist Compact in Beige Honey to set the base. Amrita decided to smoke up Prekshaa’s eyes with a hint of sparkle giving her an evening look while keeping the rest of the makeup muted. She used Lakmé Absolute Gel Addict Eyeliner in Metallic Bronze to create a shimmering effect. She then smoked up her eyes with the Lakmé Absolute Kohl Ultimate and finished with a few coats of Lakmé Absolute Flutter Secrets Volume Mascara to open up her eyes. Since eyes were the highlight, Amrita applied a soft and fresh Pink Wink shade from the Lakmé Absolute Gloss Addict lipstick range and dabbed on a single coat of Lakmé Absolute Gloss Stylist in Pink Pout shade for a fuller lip illusion. She kept the blush muted by applying barely-there Lakmé Absolute Face Stylist Blush Duos in Rose Blush shade. Amrita then styled Prekshaa’s hair in soft side-swept curls.
