Discover her transformation with WeddingSutra on Location at Ritu Kumar
As part of our initiative WeddingSutra on Location, we invited four brides-to-be for a unique experience at designer Ritu Kumar’s flagship store in Lower Parel, Mumbai. Starting with a Style Consultation, followed by a Makeover and a Photo Shoot, each of the participants got an opportunity to interact with some of the best names in Bridal & Wedding services.
Here, in the last of the four-part series, bride-to-be Vinita Naik blogs about her On Location experience at Ritu Kumar.
“Ever since I got engaged I’ve been following WeddingSutra’s updates and checking out their fabulous ‘On Location’ shoots with brides-to-be, so I decided to write in too. I forgot about my email while I got busy with wedding shopping and preps; a few weeks later I was taken by surprise when I received an invitation for their upcoming shoot at Ritu Kumar. In retrospect I think it was been the best thing I decided to do before my wedding.
I reached Ritu Kumar’s store all excited where team WeddingSutra welcomed me, and we started with checking out the traditional lehengas. I had spent the last few weeks visiting designer and lehenga studios and I was inclined to consider pinks and peaches, and mints with mirror and gota work– I don’t know why but I felt those combinations were ‘in’ and would suit my complexion tone. But here, WeddingSutra picked out a coral shade lehenga and asked me to try it. When I saw it first, I had my reservations but after wearing it I liked it- I felt it looked bright yet earthy and so this was it.
Next on agenda was hair and make-up and it was an amazing experience to see Makeup Artist Amrita Sanghavi at work. To compliment the outfit and its earthy look, Amrita decided to give me red lips and highlight my eyes. Best of all, I loved the way she styled my hair. Simple and uncomplicated, the chic hair-do beautifully highlighted the maang-tikka.
The final touch was the jewellery. Azva has a variety of stunning ornaments and the WeddingSutra team styled my look with a maang tikka, necklace, earrings and bangles.
All ready and set, it was now time for the photo shoot. Dev Purbiya patiently guided me and clicked away while ensuring I was comfortable yet aware always.
I think the entire experience was as close as it could get to the actual wedding day, and one that I’ll highly recommend to every bride-to-be!
Vinita’s Look Based on her discussion with Vinita and looking at her choice of lehenga, Amrita decided to give her a traditional Indian look. Amrita started with the Lakmé Absolute Face Stylist Foundation in Almond Honey all over her face and neck to create a base followed by the Lakmé Absolute Face Stylist Compact in Golden Medium to retain the natural glow and set the base. To define Vinita’s eyes, Amrita brushed on the Lakmé Absolute Eye Chromatic Baked Shadow in Day Shimmer shade on to her eyelids which also complimented the traditional and rich outfit. She then applied the Lakmé Absolute Precision Liquid Liner to give her a bold winged out look and finished with a coat of Lakmé Absolute Flutter Secrets Dramatic Eyes Mascara. For the lips, Amrita chose to apply a rich Red Rush shade from the latest Lakmé Absolute Sculpt Studio Hi-Definition Matte Lipstick range. Vinita’s nails were painted with the Lakmé Absolute Gel Stylist in rich Tomato Tango shade. Finally for the hair, Amrita gave some bounce to Vinita’s otherwise straight hair with soft curls at the ends and a traditional middle part hairstyle complete with a maangtika.
