Arjun Tendulkar and Saaniya Chandhok
The Tendulkars and Chandhoks celebrated the much-awaited union in impeccable style, pairing an illustrious guest list with elegantly curated details.
In what promised to be one of the most closely watched celebrations of the year, the wedding of legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar’s son, Arjun Tendulkar and Saaniya Chandhok unfolded as an elegant union rooted in legacy, grace and quiet sophistication. The occasion was envisioned as an intimate yet momentous gathering, bringing together two Mumbai families in a celebration that balanced tradition with contemporary charm.

The engagement was announced in August 2025 via a quiet photograph followed by a flurry of warm wishes. The announcement was understated yet instantly headline worthy, drawing attention from cricketing circles, political leaders and Mumbai’s social elite alike.
A few weeks before the wedding, the couple and their parents were seen with their families at the residences of Droupadi Murmu, Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Rahul Gandhi. Accompanied by Saaniya’s brother, Ishaan and Arjun’s sister, Sara, the visits reflected both the gravitas of the Tendulkar name and the warmth with which this union was being welcomed.
Saaniya possesses an entrepreneurial streak. She runs a niche pet grooming brand that has quietly built a small yet loyal clientele. Her father runs an automobile-related business in South Mumbai, while her mother, Gaurika Chandhok, is the daughter of Ravi Ghai, who once helmed Marine Drive’s iconic Natraj Hotel. Gaurika’s brother is well-known hotelier and serial entrepreneur Gaurav Ghai. Arjun, meanwhile, has been steadily shaping his own cricketing journey. A left-arm pacer and capable lower-order batsman, he rose through the Mumbai domestic circuit before stepping onto the Indian Premier League stage.

A significant milestone in their relationship unfolded during a family holiday in Indore, where Saaniya was introduced to Anjali’s side of the family. The Tendulkars stayed at the Ahilya Fort Heritage Hotel, its riverfront setting lending the occasion an old-world charm. Sachin shared glimpses from the getaway on Instagram, a seemingly casual post that marked a meaningful moment as Saaniya was embraced into the family fold.
The celebrations in Mumbai were designed to remain intimate and tasteful. And before the Mumbai celebrations, a one-evening pre-wedding gathering in Jamnagar set the tone with warmth, laughter and a close circle of friends and family.

The vision was clear and thoughtfully defined: to honour tradition while embracing restraint, creating celebrations that felt intimate, intentional, and enduring rather than overtly extravagant. What followed was five months of detailed creative development, shaped through mood boards, spatial storytelling, carefully curated guest experiences, and meticulous logistical planning. The result was two culturally distinct yet seamlessly connected celebrations that felt deeply personal while unfolding with quiet cohesion.
The Gallops at Mumbai’s Mahalakshmi Race Course was the venue for the Mehendi, envisioned as a vibrant sundowner celebration. The space was transformed into an elevated carnival-inspired setting layered with bold colour palettes, rich textures, and immersive movement, striking a refined balance between festive exuberance and thoughtful elegance.
Guests were invited to explore the Mehendi Bazaar Gifting Experience, where personalised tote bags were curated at beautifully designed stalls featuring bangles, bindis, artisanal bath salts, lip balms, authentic mukhwas, and aam papad sourced from Amritsar, turning gifting into an interactive cultural moment. Anchoring the celebration was a lush floral swing installation that served as an elegant focal point, while live music and high-energy performances infused the venue with rhythm and vibrancy through the afternoon. Every detail was intentionally orchestrated to ensure guests were not merely spectators but active participants in the celebration.

Despite its intimate guest list, the gathering saw several of Sachin’s cricketing friends in attendance, including Ravi Shastri, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Irfaan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan and Ajit Agarkar. The menu featured Gallops’ signature Punjabi fare alongside popular Continental dishes, complemented by Sachin’s favourite Maharashtrian and coastal flavours. The evening concluded early, even as paparazzi continued to wait outside for more glimpses of the Tendulkar family. Anjali was seen escorting her father, Anand Mehta, while Sachin briefly returned to the entrance to personally see off Raj and Sharmila Thackeray.

Earlier, the intimate home celebrations including the pooja, the bride’s mehendi, and the chuda ceremony were marked by soft, elegant beauty looks crafted by WeddingSutra Favorite – Sabahat Ansari, who kept Saaniya’s makeup fresh, luminous and perfectly in tune with the understated tone of the festivities.
The wedding, hosted at The St. Regis Mumbai, generated significant social media buzz as one of India’s most celebrated families welcomed an intimate circle of guests with carefully extended invitations. With cricketing legends, close family, and prominent personalities in attendance, the celebrations remained closely followed even as they reflected the understated elegance that has long defined the Tendulkar family’s approach to private milestones. The formal ceremony unfolded under the theme “SaaJ,” conceived as a sacred and serene counterpoint to the vibrant Mehendi. Guided by the design language of subtle grandeur, the setting was anchored by a breathtaking 270-degree centre mandap installation. Cloud-like expanses of baby’s breath were layered with off-whites, blush pinks, fresh greens, and muted gold accents, creating a dreamlike atmosphere that elevated the sanctity of the rituals while maintaining refined restraint.
The day started with a wholesome breakfast that includedca thoughtfully curated spread of comforting regional favourites such as jalebi and fafda, sabudana khichadi, poha, and freshly steamed dhokla, including a distinctive variation made with whole moong. Guests were also welcomed with freshly prepared Thandai from Nathdwara, alongside chai and lassi inspired by the flavours of Benaras. The emotional cadence of the morning was heightened by the live presence of two of India’s most celebrated voices. Harshdeep Kaur accompanied the bridal entry, while Shankar Mahadevan performed the Mangalashtak, infusing the ceremony with depth, gravitas, and soul. Following the rituals, the celebration transitioned seamlessly into a traditional Maharashtrian sit-down Pangat. The meal was executed in a refined silver-service format by Foodlink, honouring the authenticity of the Pangat while maintaining polished hospitality standards. Executing a multi-hall, high-volume seated dining experience required meticulous coordination across culinary teams, service staff, and guest movement logistics, reflecting the structured operational precision behind the planning.
To ensure privacy and seamless guest management, a sophisticated personalised QR code entry system was implemented, reinforcing the planners’ hallmark of discreet, well-orchestrated luxury hospitality. Notable attendees included Amitabh Bachchan, Nita Ambani, Akash Ambani with Shloka Ambani. Shah Rukh Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Jay Shah, Devendra Fadnavis, Raj Thackeray, MS Dhoni, Zaheer Khan with Sagarika Ghatge, Yuvraj Singh with Hazel Keech, Harbhajan Singh with Geeta Basra, Irfan Pathan with Sara Baig, Ravi Shastri, among others.
