Gaelyn and Sheehan, Taj Lands End, Mumbai
MTV VJ Gaelyn Mendonca wed Sheehan Furtado in Mumbai and the celebrations included a heady sangeet and a heavenly Catholic white wedding.
They considered Goa for their wedding, but convenience trumped distance for Gaelyn and Sheehan who wed in Mumbai where they are based. Check out the candid wedding photos by The Photo Diary as bride Gaelyn shares some special highlights of the nuptials below.
How We Met
“We met when we were in college – which was a really long time ago! It’s been 12 years since then. We have a lot of common friends so we hit it off instantly with each other.”
Proposal
“There was an elaborate formal proposal. I was shooting for Roadies and was away for a month. Sheehan knew that I had this crazy sixth sense which meant I would figure out everything. So he planned everything on my mom’s birthday. When I returned from Roadies shoot after a month, just in time for my mother’s birthday, we all got dressed up and went to this restaurant. I kept wondering why the restaurant was totally empty – when in reality, Sheehan had booked the whole restaurant to pop up the question!”
Wedding Venue
“Convenience was a factor we kept in consideration while choosing our wedding venue. We did a bit of research on different locations like Goa. However, since most of our friends were from the showbiz industry, we chose to get married at Taj Lands End, Mumbai in Bandra, Mumbai, as it was convenient as well as well connected.”
Wedding Planning
“I was constantly shooting while the whole wedding planning process was going on! Sheehan and I planned everything ourselves, but our friends and family played an influential role in assisting us. We had a fun party that was entirely organized by our friends and included a host of outdoor activities considering how much Sheehan and I love adventure sports.”
“All my wedding outfits were picked up at the last moment and my friends had to drag me for wedding shopping. I was visiting Dubai for IFFA where my best friend lives, so she took it upon herself to find me a nice wedding gown. She would take me to boutiques to check out different gowns. I finally picked up my wedding gown from the last boutique we happened to visit in Dubai.”
“While looking for photographers, we came across The Photo Diary on Instagram. We were considering a few other photographers but felt that The Photo Diary was very unique in its portrayals of weddings so we decided to go with it. By the end of it all, The Photo Diary and Monisha became like family to us!”
Wedding Functions
Sangeet
The wedding festivities kicked off with a sangeet function. Gaelyn wore a beautiful floral lehenga. She chose to wear her tresses half tied and accessorized with a ‘matha patti’ (forehead ornament). The beautiful floral decor and picture-perfect ethnic ensembles of the couple added a dash of traditional trendiness to the sangeet function.
Wedding
“There were many beautiful moments from this day… the most important one was when Sheehan put a ring on my finger. It instantly felt so magical and unlike anything I had ever experienced before. Our Catholic wedding ceremony incorporated the exchange of vows. It was heavenly for us!”
Gaelyn in her beautiful white gown was a vision to behold as Sheehan looked every bit of a dapper groom in his dark emerald three-piece tuxedo. The bridesmaids wore floral dresses while the groomsmen matched the color theme in their light emerald colored suits. The venue was illuminated with bright overhead lights and had a colorful dance floor that had their guests jiving all night.
