Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra, Suryagarh Jaisalmer
Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra have taken the plunge with a destination wedding at Jaisalmer.
Actors Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra tied the knot after months of speculation and frenzy at Suryagarh Jaisalmer where they celebrated their love amongst their loved ones. Attended by A-listers and Bollywood celebrities, this February wedding has been a long time in the making.
The couple started dating while filming Shershaah where they starred in the lead roles. Kiara, who’s off-screen name is Alia Advani, debuted with the movie Fugly but gained popularity with the movie Kabir Singh. Kiara hails from a Sindhi family and her father Jagdeep Advani is a businessman. Her mom Genevieve Jaffrey, a former teacher, is renowned actor Saeed Jaffrey’s niece.
Sidharth, on the other hand, began his career as a model and debuted with Karan Johar’s ‘Student Of The Year’. His father, Sunil Malhotra is a former merchant navy captain based in Delhi and his mother is a homemaker
Besides Bollywood A-listers like Karan Johar, Shahid Kapoor and wife Mira Rajput, and Kiara’s school friend, Isha Ambani, the close friends of South Mumabi-based Advanis and Delhi-based Malhotras were also present for the union.
Rajasthan with its majestic architecture has long been a hot favourite amongst celebrities for destination weddings. And, it’s no different for Kiara and Sidharth who have chosen Suryagarh, a luxury hotel in Jaisalmer that is nestled close to the fort. With 83 rooms and two lush gardens and courtyards, this venue embodies the spirit of Rajasthani hospitality while treating the eyes to stunning vistas.
Spanning two days, the celebrations began with a Welcome Lunch at the Courtyard, Sangeet on the Sunset Patio and progressed to a Haldi between the Havelis, Wedding at the Bawdi and a Reception on the second day at the Celebration Lawns. As the festivities began, all the guests were politely requested to leave their phones behind in their rooms. In case they bought it alone, they were requested to leave it with the security. Remarking on the same, a guest quipped, “It’s exactly liked how the good ol’ charming wedding used to be. No phone cameras, while all guests looked at the mandap or stage and indulged in friendly banter with all others.”
While the guests stayed at Suryagarh itself, the crew stayed at hotels close by, like, Hotel Rupal Residency – A Luxury Heritage Hotel and WelcomHeritage Mandir Palace in Jaisalmer.
For the mehndi, Kiara chose to don a white lehenga with intricate threadwork while Sidharth donned a yellow kurta which he paired with a festive shawl. Hosted outdoors under the sunny sky, the couple had a fun time shaking a leg with their loved ones.
Flanked by white blooms, the couple looked dreamy as they tied the knot. Kiara’s outfit featured intricate embroidery details of Roman architecture with real swarovski crystals. For her jewellery, Kiara chose a necklace set encrusted with diamonds and Zambian emeralds.
Sidharth opted for a metallic gold sherwani with hints of ivory threadwork, gold zardozi and badla work. His jewellery consisted of a polki necklace and ring accentuating his regal outfit.
For the Mumbai wedding reception, Kiara and Sidharth invited over 300 guests to the Astor Ballroom at The St Regis Mumbai. With a photo-op at the entrance decorated with white blooms and the couple’s monogram, this event had Bollywood stars in attendance. Kareena Kapoor, Karan Johar, Ayushmann Khurrana, Ranveer Singh and Kriti Sanon walked in and posed for the lenses. Akash Ambani and his wife Shloka Mehta were also in attendance. Kiara looked stylish dressed in a monochrome gown with a long train that she paired with a statement emerald necklace set while Sidharth chose a glitzy blazer with a black turtleneck underneath.
