Lin Laishram and Randeep Hooda, Manipur
Actor Randeep Hooda married Lin Laishram in a traditional ceremony in Imphal.
Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda tied the knot with Linthoingambi ‘Lin’ Laishram, a model and entrepreneur, at a close-knit Manipuri wedding ceremony in Imphal. The couple who have been dating for several years announced their engagement on social media before jetting off to the bride’s hometown for the wedding.
The Manipuri wedding was stunning, as Lin donned the traditional ‘potloi’, a cylindrical skirt along with a blouse and a woven belt. Adding to her outfit were several gold necklaces, a traditional headpiece and hand ornaments that are so often adored by the classic Manipuri bride. Randeep, on the other hand, wore a simple white outfit with a dhoti, kurta and a gold-bordered turban called ‘kokyet’. Randeep especially, was keen on embracing his bride’s culture as the couple tied the knot with a ‘Meitei’ style wedding where the rituals are centred around a tulsi plant. Admirers of Radha-Krishna, the love for the deities is also reflected in the Meitei bride and groom’s wedding wear inspired by Rasleela. To ensure that Randeep and his family understood every part of the wedding, Lin’s family also arranged for a Hindi-speaking arangpham (similar to a Hindu wedding priest also referred to as the ‘arranger’ of rituals in Manipuri culture) who translated all the rituals and its intricacies to Randeep and his family.
After their wedding in November, the couple hosted a reception on December 11 where Randeep invited friends from the industry. Many family members, and friends of Lin also attended the evening at the Turf Banquets and Lawns. The reception hamper caught everyone’s attention with its array of Medjool dates, kesar tokri, anjeer kaju barfi and a tin of Thai spiced nuts. The minimalistic and earthy hamper and invite was packed with dried blooms and an actual horseshoe – a nod to Randeep’s love for all things equestrian.
The lovely couple made an entry to the song “I can’t help falling in love with you” after which guests were kept engaged with some fun anecdotes from the stage. Randeep and Lin’s friends talked about their treasured friendships, and how they were so happy that a reception was being hosted in Mumbai. Lin’s friend jokingly quipped: “they had the audacity to get married so far away.. most of us couldn’t even go there. And to top it off, the wedding went viral. And every time we opened Instagram we felt so much fomo.”
WeddingSutra Favorite Raaga Magic then took over and belted English and Bollywood hits.
The fabulous decor was designed by WeddingSutra Favorite Q Events while Blue Sea Catering curated a delectable spread with pass arounds, mini plates and an elaborate food and dessert counter that included their signature Amristari chole and kulchas.
Other popular eats in the sundowner spread included a modern Indian chaat and modern Lucknowi galouti kebab station, sarson ka saag and makkai ki roti, dal palwan, jackfruit dum masala biryani, wood-fired pizza, and a dimsum selection. Desserts included modern Indian mithai like mini saffron jalebi, a kulfi station, classic Tiramisu, hot chocolate with marshmellows, and a cotton candy live counter. The party continued indoors where DJ Ganesh got everyone dancing. The after menu was a nice mix of comfort foods- peri peri, truffle, cheesy French fries and veggies and chicken sliders.
