The Indian Olympian shuttler and the entrepreneur reconnected on a flight which, as fate would have it, was the beginning of their journey together as a couple. The duo’s engagement ceremony was hush-hush as both Sindhu and Venkata wanted an emotional and meaningful ceremony with their closest loved ones present. However, the duo took the grander route for the wedding with a stunning destination wedding in Udaipur with 140 guests in attendance and a glitzy reception in Hyderabad. Designing their wedding invitation was WeddingSutra Favorite – Radhika Pitti Studio who used a variety of architectural elements and earthy hues to create a simplistic design with multiple fun inserts.

Despite her demanding schedule as a professional athlete, PV Sindhu, a perfectionist at heart, ensured everything was meticulously detailed to reflect her and Venkata’s personalities and their journey together. Spanning three days, the couple celebrated their love with a series of festivities, like a ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ themed sangeet, a haldi, a Pellikuthuru, a Bridgerton-inspired mehendi, a varmala, a wedding ceremony, and a reception in Hyderabad.

Sangeet
The ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ themed sangeet featured a vast stage backed by LED lights, smashing performances, and a dashing entry by the couple. Inspired by Persian designs, the decor featured delicate gold elements, arabesque patterns, graceful domes, lanterns and ambient lights. Sindhu, who wore a sleek emerald green halter-neck gown, entered hand-in-hand with Venkata who wore an embellished gold bandhgala. Their cousins held up sparklers to welcome them to the celebration.

Haldi
Eschewing the conventional yellow hues, the couple chose a pomegranate theme for their haldi. The event featured shades of brick red, scarlet, and terracotta which were accentuated by dashes of bronze. The sunkissed celebrations witnessed the couple wearing white outfits that contrasted delightfully with the decor story. Seated in earthen urlis, the couple had a fun time as their loved ones slathered them with a turmeric mixture.

Pellikuthuru
The Pellikuthuru is a pre-wedding ceremony that celebrates the bride and her upcoming marriage. It symbolizes the purification of the bride before the sacred rituals of marriage. For this occasion, Sindhu kept it classic and traditional with a silk zari saree which she accessorised with multiple necklaces, a vadanam (a traditional waist belt) and matching jhumkas. White, mint green, bronze and earthy hues adorned the venue while traditional jasmine garlands exuded a heady fragrance.

Blending the best of style and comfort, Sindhu wore a lavender sharara set that was in tandem with the Bridgerton-themed mehndi event. The decor consisted of pastel hues and delicate blooms that channelled an English-inspired aesthetic. The couple had a gala time as they played games, like, ‘Truth or Dare’ and even shared an impromptu dance performance.

Wedding
Staying close to her Telugu roots, PV Sindhu’s union was a perfect amalgamation of traditional and modern elements. The day commenced with a Telugu ceremony where the elders blessed the couple. The groom donned an ivory sherwani, and the bride looked stunning in a Manish Malhotra saree with a customised veil inscribed with both their names. At the couple’s request, the wedding party wore traditional Kanchivaram sarees which consequently resulted in some stunning shots of the pastel-hued wedding ceremony!
Hosted at Raffles Udaipur, which is located on a 21-acre private island surrounded by Udai Sagar Lake – the wedding was nothing short of spectacular with its minimalistic design story with dashes of traditional glamour.
