The TV actress tied the knot with her longtime beau in an intimate multicultural wedding.
After more than a decade together, Naagin 5 actress Surbhi Chandna and Businessman Karan Sharma got married in a beautiful destination wedding at Chomu Palace Hotel, Jaipur, amidst their close friends and family. The celebrations saw a harmonious blend of rich Rajasthani and Punjabi traditions, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of the couple.
The couple first crossed paths when Surbhi moved into the same apartment building as Karan in Powai, Mumbai, and their respective moms became dear friends. What began as a friendship blossomed swiftly into love, but the two kept their relationship very low-key, and only made it insta-official in September 2022 when Surbhi shared a sweet post on Karan’s birthday.
The couple had a roka ceremony in September 2023, jetting off to Goa for a family celebration and vacation, and announced their wedding on 15th January with an adorable Instagram post with their fur baby. The couple also took the opportunity to pose for an editorial shoot, curated by WeddingSutra in New Delhi. Expressing their love for the food and old-world charm of the city, they explored the iconic streets of Chandni Chowk before heading to the plush new venue of Araya Bagh.
Mehndi
The couple’s sunlit mehndi was a playful soiree where the duo had a gala time frolicking in the palace’s courtyard. While Surbhi glowed in a leaf green lightweight lehenga which she accessorised with a statement nath and jhumkas, Karan opted for a dark green bandhgala with tropical embroidery.
Sufi night
As evening fell, the couple geared up for a glam sufi night where they made a dashing entry holding Arabic lamps. The couple exchanged rings and danced the night away with their loved ones. Surbhi dazzled in a black sequin co-ord set with a shimmering floor-length jacket, which Karan complemented in a sleek black sherwani.
Chooda
For the chooda ceremony, Surbhi looked ethereal in a blush pink sharara set with all-over embellishments while Karan wore an ivory kurta set with gold threadwork. The rest of the guests wore hues of yellow which made for a stunning visual against the stone facade of the palace.
Haldi
The couple wanted to recreate the energy and excitement of their Roka ceremony in Goa for their Haldi function and rang in the celebrations with a classic Goa-style hilltop party with a mix of vibrant colours and rousing music. Friend and actor Bhoomika Mirchandani had everyone rolling to her witty one-liners and impromptu shayaris. The bride sported a flouncy lavender lehenga with a beaded blouse that was custom-made for the occasion.
Wedding
For their wedding, the couple chose muted hues. Blooms in soft yellow and pink adorned the venue while the bride made a dazzling entry in her exquisitely embroidered aqua-green lehenga that featured pink embellishments and a custom blouse with long sleeves and large pearl trimmings. Paired with emerald-studded jewellery, the lehenga made a resounding fashion statement. Karan matched his bride with a grey-green embellished sherwani.
The bride wowed everyone with her entrance, as she walked in dancing to the tune of an original song written for the occasion, which she sang herself as a tribute of her love to her groom. Sharing the joy on Instagram, Surbhi wrote, “Finally Home after 13 Years. We Seek all your love and blessings as we embark on this new journey together.”
Reception
The Reception dinner was a plush, formal affair that saw touching speeches by both their dads, while Karan’s best friend delighted the crowd with a hilarious roast. The couple’s gang of friends offered up the highlight of the evening, which was a special skit that had the entire hall abuzz with cheers and laughs. The bride sported a shimmering gown of black and gold with a chic thigh-high slit, while the groom was as dapper as usual in a classic black tuxedo.
