WeddingSutra hosted its latest ‘Destination Wedding’ themed Masterclass at the JW Marriott Hotel, Juhu on the 27th of August 2016. The fun filled event was attended by couples on the verge of getting married, who were thrilled to not only get insights from the wedding experts, but a chance to interact with them one-on-one as well.
The event was planned to provide individual focus on different aspects of a wedding. The first sessions trained a lens on the logistics of a destination wedding and the best way to document it. There was a session on the ease and efficiency of a setting up a gift registry. The latter half of the event emphasized vanity services and planning a honeymoon.
The session kicked off with Darshan Shroff, co-owner of Momente, who dispelled several wedding-planning myths and then offered practical, budget friendly approaches to executing a successful destination wedding.
Anand Rathi, photographer and cinematographer of Reels and Frames followed Shroff’s travel-inspiring speech with a light-hearted presentation on the myriad multimedia and new media techniques available to document your wedding more efficiently. He then treated the audience to a few incredible destination-wedding films to illustrate the planning and work that goes into the seemingly effortless captures of emotions in every frame.

The panel then presented Sudha Maheswari, founder of ForMyShaadi.com, who introduced the audience to the concept of a gift registry. She enlightened the audience about the nitty-gritty of gifting including the convenience and courtesy of offering gift options in various budgets.
Then it was time to get our teeth stuck into the vanity aspect of weddings. Dr Diksha Tahilramani Batra offered some handy, easy tips on beautifying your smile on a day you will be photographed and filmed practically all the time. She also addressed various questions related to dental well-being. Popular make-up artist Amrit Kaur shared some quick tips and tricks with all the brides and demonstrated some steps with a makeover which had all the brides taking notes!

Soon it was time to discuss the next most important occasion after the wedding – the honeymoon. Top luxury honeymoon specialists The Travel Duet in tandem with Fiji Tourism expressed the importance of an effective honeymoon itinerary and had the audience engaged and laughing with a fun-filled Q&A that effectively illustrated various travel trends.
Of course, the highlight of this event was when two lucky brides-to-be, Priyal Dalal and Ekta Ashar were chosen to unveil designers Falguni and Shane Peacock’s ‘Anti Bride’ Collection. With make up from Kromakay Salon and accessories from Gehna Jewellery, these young women wowed the audience.
The brides-to-be were entertained right through the Masterclass as well with a picture contest on Instagram. Using hashtags #IamatWeddingSutraMasterclass, #BrideInspiredByWeddingSutra and #FijiHappy they posted photographs each vying for the most number of likes. Those with the maximum likes won special goodies from Fiji Tourism and The Dressing Room. One very lucky couple, Parth Bhatt and Nikita Khandelwal also won a special holiday hamper from Imagica!
After the event, the brides all gathered around the beautiful Canvera Photobooks and other exhibits which showcased contemporary wedding jewellery by Mesmerize, colourful wedge heels by Himali Doshi and bespoke cards and customised invites by Itchha Talreja.

The WeddingSutra Masterclass venue décor was executed by Mumbai’s most popular wedding decorators ‘National Decorators’ who created a wonderful ambience for the event while the Executive Chef of JW Marriott Juhu outdid himself with a sumptuous, hospitable buffet and a selection of wine.
