Rashmi and Dinesh at Le Méridien Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok Golf Resort & Spa
Bride Rashmi shares the inspiration behind their wedding film shot by CoolBluez Photography at Le Meridien Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok Golf Resort & Spa
Theirs was the first Indian wedding to be held at the new Le Meridien Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok Golf Resort & Spa. Here, bride Rashmi shares the memories of her romance with Dinesh that inspired the storyline of their wedding video.
“Dinesh is from Singapore and I hail from Hong Kong. His aunt, who is also based in Hong Kong, is my mom’s friend and she played a key role in our relationship. She got him to add me on Facebook so we would get to know each other. Funnily, we both weren’t ready for this and when he added me, the first thing I said to him was “I am not interested in this”. That obviously changed with time. After a few months of no contact, we started texting again, and Dinesh decided to fly down to Hong Kong to see me (although he keeps denying it and claims he came down to HK to see his cousins and the scenic tourist attractions – lies I tell you!). On our first date, I splashed coffee all over his head and thought that was going to be the end of it, but it wasn’t. I guess he found me cute… or simply too engrossing! He missed his flight back home while talking to me over the phone. Over time, we made efforts to see each other and finally decided that we were each other’s soulmates.”
“The thought process behind our wedding video was simple – we wanted to capture our story and special events. We opted to start off with narrating the story of how we met, the qualities we were looking for in our life partners and how we felt for each other after we met. This is done in the midst of footage showing us preparing for functions as we get dressed and details of our ensembles, jewellery and makeup session. The soundtrack of the hit song ‘Tu Hai’ plays softly in the background, thereby allowing our voices to be heard clearly. The video gradually becomes upbeat with the ‘High Heels’ track as the mehendi and sangeet functions are captured – and edited fantastically by CoolBluez Photography who showcased highlights of the functions beautifully. The shots sync with the lyrics, and special effects are used appropriately and effectively. I feel weddings are spiritual and that is why the music should be calming, and ideally, instrumental. Latika’s theme was simply perfect for our pheras and was even used for my entrance. After that, you’ll see a cute snippet of us just before we lead into the reception with upbeat music, this time an English track ‘Beautiful Now’ which blends in just well with the prevailing mood.”
“Deciding on our wedding venue was a story in itself. We reached a middle ground when we decided to have our wedding in Bangkok (https://www.weddingsutra.com/Thailand/) since one of us is from Singapore and the other from Hong Kong. As for the hotel, our planners told us about this branch of the Le Meridien chain which was only a couple years old. Our wedding was their first proper Indian wedding – but we were willing to give it a shot because the location was absolutely stunning. I instantly fell in love with the hotel because it is designed like an ultra-modern resort which makes one feel cosy and at home. The outdoor garden was too beautiful for holding functions – I knew I wanted to have my mehndi and wedding there! I also admired the serenity surrounding the hotel and of course, the rooms stole our hearts – be it in their comfort, size and amenities. They even had their own patios. I must say the service provided by the hotel during our wedding was top-notch.”
