Aaghna and Vishal, Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa, Vietnam
Fusing the tropical charm of Vietnam and Indian traditions, this couple’s destination wedding was vivid and fun!
Aaghna and Vishal’s destination wedding brought together relaxed beachside celebrations, Indian wedding traditions and thoughtful designs, with each event designed around its setting. From a sunset Mehendi and Sangeet to a pastel-hued Haldi and an elegant seaside wedding, the celebrations moved effortlessly between intimate moments and lively festivities. WeddingSutra Favorite – Oragraphy photographed the wedding with a focus on both the details and the emotions.

How They Met
Aaghna and Vishal met during their second year at City University of London, when Aaghna was hosting an event and tried to sell Vishal her friend’s clubbing ticket. He declined, saying he had work the next day, but Aaghna quickly found a way around that.
“When I sheepishly admitted I started work at 5 pm, Aaghna shot back, ‘You could go clubbing twice and still make it in time for work!’” Vishal recalls. “That quick wit got us talking, and after exchanging socials, we ended up chatting every day. The rest, as they say, is history.”

The Proposal
Aaghna had always wanted to visit Cappadocia and see its famous hot air balloons, so Vishal planned a surprise trip around the experience. At sunrise, surrounded by hundreds of balloons, he proposed.
“Full disclosure: I proposed on the ground because dropping the ring from a hot air balloon would’ve been a plot twist no one wanted!” Vishal jokes. His nerves were difficult to hide. “Aaghna kept asking if I was having fun, and later confessed, ‘You didn’t smile once!’ Little did she know, I was just so nervous the entire trip, hoping everything would go perfectly. Spoiler: it did, and she said yes!”
Wedding Planning
The couple wanted the wedding to feel personal, relaxed and closely connected to the beach. Photography was an important part of that, with Oragraphy documenting the celebrations from start to finish. “Our wedding photographers were truly exceptional because they captured every beautiful detail and emotion of our special day with creativity and precision,” the couple shares. “Their keen eye for composition brought out the stunning colours of the beach, the elegance of the floral arrangements, and the joy on our guests’ faces.”
Food was another key part of the planning. “Food was a huge part of our celebration, and the Hyatt team went above and beyond to make it unforgettable!” they say. A chef from Hyatt’s Ahmedabad property was brought in for the Indian menu, while guests enjoyed Italian, Mexican, Mediterranean, Indochinese and Vietnamese dishes across the celebrations. Creative cocktails, fresh juices and a masala chai station at every event kept guests well catered for throughout.

Wedding Functions
Welcome Lunch
After more than 20 hours of travel, guests were welcomed with a private check-in before settling in for a Mediterranean lunch with Vietnamese influences. The Vietnamese drip coffee with condensed coconut milk quickly became a guest favourite and an unofficial drink of the wedding.
Mehendi & Sangeet
The Mehendi and Sangeet took place on the beach at sunset, with a relaxed boho-chic setup. Overhead greenery, woven rattan lanterns and the ocean provided the backdrop, while an illuminated dance floor became the centre of the evening. Friends and family performed throughout the evening, keeping the mood lively while still allowing guests to enjoy the beachside setting.

Haldi Ceremony
The Haldi was held in a beachfront garden with pastel and white flowers, palm trees and soft greenery. Airy seating and simple bohemian details complemented the floral setting, giving the morning a relaxed feel. The celebrations took an unexpected turn when Aaghna’s brothers tossed her into the sea, adding plenty of laughter to the traditional ceremony.

Firepit Night
The ‘Carnival by the Shore’ firepit night was planned as a more casual evening where guests could relax and spend time together. The beachfront featured firepits, hammocks, beach games and an open bar. Fire performers and Vietnamese dancers brought energy to the evening, while a large-screen slideshow played highlights from the celebrations. Guests toasted marshmallows, danced beneath string lights and stayed on for music by the DJ.

Wedding
The wedding ceremony took place directly on the beach, with the ocean and distant mountains forming the backdrop. The mandap was decorated with white and cream flowers, soft greenery and hanging chandeliers, while white chairs and plush sofas kept the seating understated and comfortable. Tropical foliage was worked into the arrangements to complement the setting, while large photographs from the couple’s proposal were displayed at the entrance. For Aaghna’s bridal entry, tiki torches lined the aisle, and cold fireworks created a dramatic finish.

Advice For Couples
For Aaghna and Vishal, having a planning team that understood their preferences was one of the most important parts of the process. “If there’s one piece of advice we can give to future couples, it’s this: find a planning team that truly ‘gets’ you,” they share.
Their brother-in-law Neesh helped translate their ideas while coordinating with the rest of the team. “Having someone who understands your taste and can translate your Pinterest boards (and random late-night ideas) into reality is priceless,” they say. “Whether it’s a family member, a professional planner, or a mix of both, make sure your team listens, adapts, and advocates for your dream day.”
