Aishwarya Srivastav and Raghav Mehra, Mundota Fort and Palace, Jaipur

From the USA to a Rajasthan Fort: This couple’s destination wedding in Jaipur, Rajasthan was steeped in grandeur and curated guest experiences.

Based in the United States yet instinctively drawn to the romance of India’s architectural past, Aishwarya Srivastav and Raghav Mehra chose to marry not just in a destination, but in a setting with memory. Their two-day, 350-guest celebration unfolded as a study in contrasts, modern yet ancient, playful yet poetic, spontaneous yet deeply intentional. Thoughtfully planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – Badhai Ho Events, the celebration was designed to honour the venue’s legacy while crafting an experience that felt personal and intuitively curated.

Wedding Planning
For Aishwarya and Raghav, the venue was not merely a backdrop. It was the anchor. They were clear in their directive that the fort must feel raw and ancient. The sandstone walls, towering gates, and weathered textures were to remain visible, unmasked by excessive florals or overpowering installations. Décor would enhance rather than compete, and atmosphere would take precedence over ornamentation. Bringing this vision to life, Badhai Ho Events approached the celebration with restraint and intent. As Kunal & Anjali Sah from Badhai Ho Events shares, “The brief was clear: to let the fort speak. Our role was to layer experiences without ever overwhelming its character.” Rather than creating a ritual-heavy celebration, the couple envisioned an experiential wedding that felt immersive, mood-driven, and emotionally textured.

Hosting their NRI guests in Jaipur, Rajasthan became an opportunity to curate a cultural welcome that felt both warm and memorable. “We wanted every guest to feel the essence of Jaipur, Rajasthan from the moment they arrived,” adds Kunal & Anjali. The experience unfolded through thoughtful touchpoints, including a royal welcome with live folk music and dance, flower showers cascading from the fort’s jharokhas, interactive bangle counters, custom tote bag stations featuring regional motifs, and even a charming parrot card reading experience that added a playful, nostalgic layer to the celebrations.

Wedding Functions
Mehendi & Haldi
The pre-wedding celebrations unfolded against the dramatic façade of the fort, where modern aesthetics met medieval permanence. The Mehendi and Haldi décor leaned contemporary, with curated installations, clean layouts, and thoughtfully placed engagement zones that allowed the sandstone textures to remain the hero. Design elements were intentionally restrained, enhancing rather than overwhelming the space. Guest experience remained central. Live food stalls, interactive activity corners, and tarot reading stations transformed the setting into a vibrant cultural salon. The mood felt relaxed yet elevated, festive without excess.

Sangeet
If the daytime events were rooted in modern minimalism, the Sangeet embraced theatrical immersion. Inspired by Moroccan nights and layered with Afghani marketplace influences, the evening transformed into a richly textured souk. Jewel tones, patterned fabrics, lantern clusters, and layered rugs introduced warmth and intimacy within the vastness of the fort. The architectural grandeur offered scale, while the theme created a sense of closeness that felt transportive yet thoughtfully grounded. Performances unfolded with energy and ease, building into a crescendo that felt both electric and curated.

Wedding
In a wedding that respected heritage while embracing individuality, the baraat became a moment of playful reinterpretation. Raghav made his entry on an e-rickshaw, unexpected, charismatic, and entirely reflective of his personality. Alongside, a DJ truck with a bespoke bar on wheels transformed the procession into a moving celebration.

The ceremony itself was conceived as a quiet homage to heritage. Set beneath a majestic tree within the fort grounds, the mandap embraced earthy tones and organic textures. The aesthetic remained restrained, with muted florals, natural materials, and an intentional absence of visual clutter ensuring the focus stayed on the vows and the setting.

Then came an unexpected twist. From early morning, heavy rain disrupted the outdoor setup, soaking florals and dismantling the carefully planned mandap. With composure and urgency, the team initiated a shift indoors, reconstructing the ceremony within the ballroom.

And just as swiftly, the rain stopped. In a decisive pivot, the team restored the outdoor setup from the ground up, replacing elements, reworking layouts, and realigning timelines. By the time Aishwarya stepped through the monumental gates for her bridal entry, the sky had cleared.
Kunal and Anjali share, “As Aishwarya stepped through the gates, the sky cleared, a moment that felt like everything we had planned for was finally coming together. Kudos to the entire team and our vendor partners for making it happen.”

Reception
Where the ceremony had been earthy and reverent, the reception embraced a Western aesthetic that felt polished, contemporary, and celebratory. Refined yet uninhibited, the evening brought the celebrations to a close with effortless elegance, a fitting finale to a wedding that balanced heritage with individuality, and design with emotion.
