Akshita Wadhwa And Sharan Bhatija, Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort & Spa, Mahabalipuram
A vivid poolside mehndi to a pastel-hued wedding - this couple’s destination wedding in Chennai was a spectacular celebration.
Using bright colours and glitzy elements, Akshita Wadhwa and Sharan Bhatija’s union left no stone unturned as it amplified the natural beauty of their surroundings. Planned, decorated and conceptualised by WeddingSutra Favorite – Purple Tree Event Solutions, this wedding took the cake with its varied hues and glitz.
Wedding Planning
Nafisa Sheikh from Purple Tree Event Solutions shares, “Akshita and Sharan, both, hail from big families who wanted to celebrate their wedding in a fun way. The couple themselves wanted a wedding that was high energy as the pandemic had kept them away from their extended family and friends. The Sindhi wedding celebrations commenced with an auspicious Ganesh Staphna and then progressed to a poolside party, a wedding which was followed by dinner.”
Having worked with the couple’s families before, the planning team had a precise understanding of their needs in their fourth outing. Putting safety first, they ensured the wedding followed every pandemic protocol. Nafisa shares, “A request was made to sanitise the entire hotel and the protocols were practised strictly. All the guests were tested in a matter of 48 hours (from testing to delivery of results) before they travelled to the venue.”
Weddings Functions
Mehndi
After the Ganesh Staphna, which is customary in Sindhi weddings, the couple started their festivities with a bright mehndi by the poolside. Sheltered by pink and yellow drapes, the guests thoroughly enjoyed their time under the sun at this ‘Madras Madness’ themed party. Breezy seating options and quirky decor elements put everyone in the mood to mingle. Plus, a dancefloor ensured that there was plenty of space to shake a leg.
Sangeet
Elegant and glamorous, the sangeet’s highlight was the huge stage where the couple began the evening by exchanging rings. Later, the music was turned up and the lights bathed the venue in a warm glow as everyone enjoyed the couple’s dance performance. Suspended sequins and acrylic vases brimming with flowers decorated the venue.
Wedding
Flaunting a muted pastel colour palette, the wedding decor was modern but at the same time, paid homage to the couple’s roots. Dainty pink and white roses, a reflective aisle and acrylic furniture were paired with each other seamlessly to give the event a luxurious yet ethereal look. Later on, the couple and their loved ones proceeded to enjoy a sumptuous wedding dinner.
