How they met
Amisha shares “Priyesh and I met in 2014 at The University of Nottingham where we were both studying at the time. We first crossed paths at the University’s Fashion Show when I was in my first year and he was in his second. Even though we were part of the same performance, we didn’t speak. It wasn’t until a few years later that we reconnected in London and the rest is history!
The Proposal
“Priyesh proposed to me in Tulum, Mexico at the most amazing hotel, Azulik. I’d booked the hotels for the trip and thought we were staying somewhere else for the duration. Priyesh had reorganised the whole trip without me knowing and planned an entire surprise proposal so I had no idea what was happening! It was the most magical evening, and undoubtedly the best day of my life.”
Wedding Functions
Welcome Dinner
The first event was the Capri Chic Welcome Dinner which transported the guests to the Mediterranean beauty of Italy, inspired by the couple’s love for Italy and Italian food. The lemon, a symbol of the Mediterranean lifestyle, sunny outdoors, blue skies, and leafy greens, was not just the highlight of the “la dolce vita” decor theme, but also the couple’s custom outfits.
The couple made a dazzling entrance to the tune of “Chaliya” song that was played on the Saxophone by an International artist, making for a truly memorable experience. The spread consisted of amazing Italian starters, salads, classic pizzas, and pasta, and was topped off with the bride and groom’s favourite desserts, gelato and tiramisu respectively. It was the perfect start to the celebrations!
Haldi
The second day began with a “tropical mela”-themed haldi with Indian street food galore! The couple wanted to steer away from the traditional yellow ensembles, so the bride sported a charming floral orange number while the groom wore a stunning blue outfit. The food at the event included all the crowd favourites, from Chowpatty chaats to street-style noodles, kulfi falooda, fresh jalebi, and more.
Sangeet
In the evening, it was time to dance the night away with their Arabic-themed Mehndi and Sangeet, bedecked with lanterns and tassels. Live musician Sourabh set the tone of the event right from the start while Emcee Punit got the guests warmed up, the night unfolded with games, impressions, performances, and even a dance-off! The guests were treated to an array of Arabic and Indian delicacies including traditional mezze, falafel, live shawarma stations, and baklava chaat, to name a few, while the Burj Al Arab and Burj Khalifa served as the background to the merriment.
Wedding
The wedding day commenced with a shower from the heavens, despite which the celebrations unfolded as planned. The space was enveloped in a sea of red roses, setting an ambiance of romance and decadence. Draped in royal red, Amisha was a quintessential Sabyasachi bride while the groom cut an elegant figure in a cream sherwani as they captured their love in breathtaking shots against the cloudy skies. As the couple exchanged their garlands, they were showered with rose petals and love by their friends and family.
Reception
The festivities came to a spectacular close with a starry night Reception, full of sparkle and candles. The guests received personalised star-shaped sunglasses on their seats, enjoyed LED performances, and were welcomed to tuck into an array of cocktails with personalised drink toppers that featured pictures from the couple’s pre-wedding photoshoot. Emcee Punit kept everyone’s spirits high as they enjoyed unforgettable performances and speeches. As the night went on, the couple and their loved ones partied with DJ Harry into the early hours of the morning, ending only with the song “Angels” by Robbie Williams as their friends and family surrounded them on the dancefloor.
Advice for couples
“Enjoy! You will have spent months and months planning this day and it will all be over before you know it, so take the time and soak it in. During the planning process, trust your gut. If you want something, make it happen, and don’t let anyone convince you otherwise. You’ll look back on your day and be so glad you made it your own! There is nothing more special than having all of the people around you who love you, support you, and show up for you.”
