Ananya and Michael, St Regis Goa
An Indo–Chinese wedding that was full of modernity while honoring both traditions with warmth.
Ananya Kaur and Michael Wang’s wedding, held at St Regis Goa, was a celebration of their two cultures. From haldi and mehendi to the Chuang Men and Cha Dao—the door games and tea ceremony—the celebrations, planned and designed by WeddingSutra Favorite – VLW Global honored both Indian and Chinese traditions. From Kaliras to Chinese lanterns, tiny décor elements created an inviting space for all.
Wedding Planning
Shruti Tiwari of VLW Global says, “Each event had its own mood, coming together with warmth, where culture and love felt quietly connected throughout. We started with a mix of the traditional and modern for the haldi and mehendi décor. And for the Chaung men and Cha Dao the setting shifted into a full Chinese theme. The wedding was an all-white celebration with the bride’s red outfit standing out.”
Wedding Functions
Haldi
For the haldi, the décor was a mix of traditional and modern details. Terracotta and brass set the base, while striped drapes above added a soft vintage touch. Green hangings framed the seating, and a tree decorated with dry gypsy, roses and marigold became the main backdrop. Kaliras were used as hangings to add a personal detail without making it feel too much.
Chuang Men – The Outdoor Games and Cha Dao – The Tea Ceremony
Chuang Men – the door games and Cha Dao – the tea ceremony, shifted into a full Chinese theme. Red and gold carried through everything, from florals to drapes, with Chinese lanterns adding warmth to the space. The couple entered in a vintage care accompanied by fireworks.
Sangeet
The sangeet had a more modern feel. A black base with white florals, candles and crystal details kept the look simple and elegant. LED-lit arches and a split screen entry added scale for the couple’s entry, while the ceiling filled with crystal and fairy lights gave the whole space a soft glow. The after party moved into iridescent pastels, with a touch of shimmer, disco balls and a single photo setup.
Wedding
The wedding was kept completely white. Acrylic elements, transparent pillars and soft white florals like roses, hydrangeas and baby’s breath created a clean setting, allowing the bride’s red to stand out naturally.
