How we Met
Ananya met Anish at a common friend’s engagement party and the two instantly struck a chord. Knowing their friendship was for keeps, they even embarked on a long distance relationship. After a beautiful courtship, with the blessings of their parents, the two decided to tie the knot.
The Wedding Venue
Omani hospitality and grace is an effortless confluence of modern luxury and ancient, traditional comfort. The Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa in Oman was the perfect venue to host a lavish three-day destination wedding. The location and venue worked on every level, not least with the couple’s vision of a beach wedding and the fact that the families had guests converging from all corners of the globe to join in the celebrations.
Wedding Functions
Brunch and Cocktails
The three-day festivities began with a sunny brunch with wine and finger foods hosted at the Bait Al Bahar restaurant. Later that day, a cocktail party was organized at the luxurious Al Husn Courtyard of the Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa. While the bride’s friends indulged in fun photo sessions and happy chatter, it was Ananya’s beautiful off white outfit and statement earrings that stole the show. Her makeup was kept natural, enhancing her bridal glow.
Sangeet
Ananya and Anish’s glitzy sangeet ceremony was the talk of the town. From synchronized dance performances from family and friends to the Sufi dancing dervishes, it was one helluva of an event! The décor for the sangeet was an accomplishment in detail. From the colorful floating lamps to the candle-lit grand entrance and the oriental inspired centre-stage, the evening was suffused with a mystic appeal.
Very much the centre of the dramatic venue, Ananya wore an embellished gown with a cape and accessorized it with stunning statement jewellery.
Nalagu Ceremony
The Nalagu ceremony is the traditional Telegu pre-wedding ceremony in which turmeric is smeared on the bodies of the bride and groom. Since this was an outdoor event and held at the expansive lawns of the resort, Ananya and Akash held the ceremonies separately with their respective families.
Wedding
The guest list at this grand wedding featured eminent fashion designers and other artists like Namrata Joshipura, Payal and Rajesh Pratap Singh, Rohit Bal, Varun Bahl, Malini Ramani and hotelier Priya Paul.
The fun-filled event was held at the private beach of the resort and had Anish dance his way to the mandap during his baraat. The decor was all white, which went perfectly with the natural beauty of the sparkling beach backdrop and the Dhofari architecture of the resort. While Ananya looked resplendent in an off white and gold lehenga, Anish looked handsome in a bandhgala sherwani and matching mojris.
