Anindita and Varun, Thailand
Their mandap overlooked the azure seas, symbolizing an abundance of love, happiness and success.
A friendship forged in college grew into the relationship of a lifetime for Anindita and Varun. The couple celebrated their union amidst friends and family in Thailand, with a celebration planned beautifully by WeddingSutra Favorite – Urbana Weddings and Events.
How They Met
“We’ve been friends since we were in college. Varun told me later he always had a crush on me but never confessed his feelings,” Anindita says. But there’s nothing like absence to make the heart grow fonder (and the boy get braver) because when Anindita left the city, Varun realized he couldn’t bear to be apart. It was enough to make him wax lyrical! The bride smiles and says, “He’d write poems and songs, would visit my city and try his absolute best to impress me. He’s such a sweetheart. I finally melted and fell completely and madly in love with him.”
Wedding Venue
Varun’s maternal side of the family is from Thailand and when the couple decided to have a destination wedding, Hua Hin checked all the boxes. After a little research, the couple encountered Avani+ Hua Hin Resort and fell in love with its lush green vistas and gorgeous beachfront. It was also close to Bangkok airport which was very convenient for their overseas guests.
Wedding Planning
The couple wanted an intimate but spectacular wedding and they picked Urbana Weddings and Events to orchestrate it. The décor for the wedding was executed by Kanoknit Décor while the festivities were captured by Promaster Creation.
Anindita’s dainty features were enhanced with gorgeous looks created by WeddingSutra Favorite – Makeovers by Sejal and her breathtaking outfits were by designers Nikhita Tandon, Shantanu & Nikhil and Falguni & Shane Peacock.
Wedding Functions
Mehendi
The two-day extravaganza had its fun share of events. It all began with the mehendi – a riot of color, blooms, marigold wheels, umbrellas and traditional Indian handicrafts. A table laden with floral bangles as favors became a hub for all. The bride looked sunkissed in her vibrant yellow lehenga and floral jewelry, while the groom wore all white.
Sangeet
The sangeet was an evening of dancing, singing and joyous merrymaking by the couple, their family and friends. The décor was opulent, in hues of pink, resonating with the bride’s contemporary lehenga in blush, which she teamed with some Mughal style jewelry and a passa. The groom contrasted perfectly in a sky blue bandhgala and turban.
The celebrations went on into the wee hours with a pyjama after-party!
Wedding
The traditional Anand Karaj ceremony was held early next morning, with a view of the endless, tranquil ocean. Countless pink roses added romance and whimsy to the décor. It was a perfect backdrop for the beautiful bride dressed in an ivory and blush lehenga. The groom, in an intricately embroidered sherwani, was part of the same color story.
Pool Party
After the solemnity of the wedding, it was time to wild it up with a tropical-themed pool party. The couple and their guests had a smashing time with lots of music, food and games.
Reception
The culmination of the festivities was the reception with its red carpet theme. Everyone looked glamorous in tuxedos and evening gowns. The evening sparkled with cultural performances that had everyone dazzled. And finally, another after-party had people dancing the night away, celebrating this wonderful couple.
