When Arushi Pathak, a marketer based in New York City, and Nishant Kurup, a consultant based in Dubai, tied the knot after six years of being in a long-distance relationship, the celebration had to be extra special. Beautifully planned and curated by WeddingSutra Favorite – Pataka Events, the celebration in Rajasthan saw the coming together of Malayali and UP cultures in a seamless confluence. From customized drinks to cocktail stirrers that had the couple’s pets’ faces on them and a wall with their photos with each guest, every detail spoke of the couple’s journey.
Wedding Planning
Ayesha and Joshua of Pataka Events say, “Since the wedding was the coming together of two cultures, Malayali and UP, the couple requested for the wedding decor to be a perfect mix of both cultures. Each of the other events had a theme that represented the couple’s travel experiences together the welcome lunch reminding them of their European vacations, and the reception honoring the history of the wedding venue that has been close to their hearts for years. The fort, with its backdrop of a sea of yellow mustard fields, had captured the couple’s imagination since a visit years ago.
“Since the bride and groom have been living in different parts of the world for so long, it was incredibly special for them to see everyone they love come together to celebrate them. The couple was heavily involved in planning the wedding, and it was amazing to see our vision come to life while they had an absolute blast and enjoyed every minute of it.”
Wedding Functions
Welcome Lunch
The welcome lunch was hosted in a summer market fashion. Instead of a traditional mainstream buffet, guests were treated to stalls with Indian street delicacies.
Cocktail Party
With a shots wall to kickstart the party and a DJ to rev up the rhythm, the cocktail party got off to a spirited start. The cocktail stir sticks were customized with photos of the couple’s eight dogs.
Wedding
The wedding was set up in classic Malayali tradition with each detail personally drawn, planned and executed by the groom’s father. A His & Her Cocktail sign at the wedding bar was designed by the bride’s best friend and signified their favorite drinks from their respective cities—Espresso Martini from NYC and Spicy Margarita from Dubai.
Chenda drums marked the couple’s entry into the wedding venue and guests were given cones with rose petals to bless the couple.
Reception
The reception carried a guest book and a photo wall, celebrating the memories of the couple with each of their wedding guests over the years, as they start this new journey.
