Asna Oberoi and Vedant Jailkhani, MorBagh, New Delhi
Reflecting the couple’s love for their heritage, modern design sensibilities and global cuisines, this wedding was a thoughtfully curated celebration of love.
Luxury and lifestyle content creator Asna Oberoi and Vedant Jailkhani’s wedding was a seamless blend of personal storytelling, their Punjabi and Kashmiri heritage, along with thoughtful design. Planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – Karmaa Events & Entertainment, the celebrations unfolded with a sense of ease and intention, where every detail felt deeply considered yet effortlessly enjoyed.
How They Met
“Our journey began seven years ago at Pearl Academy, in the most quintessential college-romance way,” shares Asna. What started as a fleeting moment between a fresher finding her footing and a quietly confident senior soon evolved into something far more enduring. “I first noticed him roaming around with his team, selling bus tickets for the fresher’s party. What I didn’t know then was that he had already noticed me, too. At the fresher’s party, he secretly ensured I was crowned Miss Fresher, and he was the one who placed the tiara on my head. It felt straight out of a Gossip Girl moment, much like Chuck making sure Blair won.”
Despite their contrasting personalities, “I was the extroverted, always-laughing, social girl, while Vedant was the introverted, quietly observant senior,” their connection felt instinctive. Within months, they began dating, and life soon brought them even closer. “That year in London became the heart of our story,” she reflects. “Living in a new city and discovering each other in deeper ways formed some of our most cherished memories.”
Wedding Planning
“When it came to planning the wedding, our journey began with one simple reality,” Asna shares. “I come from a large, traditional joint family, while Vedant’s is much smaller and more intimate.” While a destination wedding was initially tempting, practicality and a desire for ease led them to Delhi. “I’ve seen hosts exhausted at destination weddings. I wanted to truly enjoy every moment. I need my eight hours of sleep, especially during something as emotional as a wedding,” she admits candidly.
Choosing Delhi allowed them to thoughtfully space out their celebrations. “It gave every function its own moment, without the rush or fatigue.” With her father encouraging her to bring her vision to life, Asna approached the wedding with clarity and intent. “I poured my heart into every detail. I wanted each celebration to reflect us, our tastes, our families, and the joy we wanted to share.”
Bringing this vision to life was Karmaa Events & Entertainment, led by Aman Paul, who worked closely with the couple to translate ideas into immersive experiences. As Aman Paul shares, “Asna came in with a very clear aesthetic direction. Our role was to refine, elevate, and execute it seamlessly across functions while ensuring the experience remained fluid and enjoyable for both families.”
Wedding Functions
Bridal Mehendi
“I hosted an intimate bridal mehendi gathering so I could fully enjoy the next day,” Asna explains. The celebration embraced a relaxed, boho chic aesthetic, with custom outfits designed to feel effortless and expressive. Her mehendi told a story of its own. “Since a Kashmiri Pandit wedding is considered a Shiva Parvati vivaah, I incorporated Shiv Parvati portraits.” Alongside this, deeply personal motifs such as Big Ben for London and a shikara for Vedant’s heritage added layers of meaning to the intricate design.
Sufi Mehendi Night
“Our first big celebration was the Sufi Night Mehendi, which I lovingly called Kashmir ki Kali,” she shares. Designed as an ode to Vedant’s Kashmiri roots, the evening was immersive and evocative. A life-size shikara formed the centrepiece, surrounded by details like hanging Kashmiri apples and miniature shikaras on tables. “I wanted his family to feel at home,” Asna says. With soulful Sufi music and warm, textured décor, the evening transported guests into a space that felt both intimate and transportive.
Sagan and Cocktail
Set against architectural grandeur, the Sagan cocktail embraced a minimal yet striking aesthetic. “I wanted one unique element that felt like us,” Asna shares, and that came in the form of a tiramisu tower. “I’d seen it abroad but never in India. It became the hero of the night.”
Another standout moment came as a surprise. “Vedant had arranged a Blue Tokai coffee cart for me. As a hardcore coffee girlie, I couldn’t believe I’d missed it in the moment,” she laughs. “It was one of the sweetest surprises.”
Chura, Kaleera and Dejur Ceremony
This ceremony beautifully brought together Punjabi and Kashmiri traditions. “It was also the day I wore the Dejur, an important Kashmiri ornament,” Asna shares. Her mother tied the Dejur with a sacred thread, marking the beginning of the ritual, which would later be completed at Vedant’s home. “Wearing it on the wedding day itself made it even more meaningful,” she reflects.
Wedding
At the heart of the wedding was a thoughtful blend of cultures, aesthetics, and emotion. “I always knew I wanted to be a red bride, but I wanted it to feel fresh and modern,” Asna explains. The décor transformed the venue into something entirely unexpected. Instead of a conventional setting, the mandap was created within a tree-lined space, with cascading florals suspended from branches. “I didn’t want it to feel like a typical Delhi wedding. I wanted it to feel immersive, almost like a destination.” The design evolved into a visual story of ombré hues, florals, and sunset tones, which she describes as the shades of love. Even the most spontaneous moments became unforgettable. “I was freezing by the end, so I wore a sweatshirt over my lehenga for the vidaai. It was emotional, chaotic, and hilarious, and completely me.”
The culinary experience was equally memorable. From indulgent global offerings to a playful after-party menu featuring truffle fries and Dubai-style paratha burgers, every bite reflected the couple’s personality. “It was the perfect ending,” Asna shares. “Unpretentious, delicious, and very us.”
