Childhood sweethearts Ayusmita and Arjun cemented their years-long relationship with a dreamy destination wedding in Thailand. Spread over six exciting functions, their celebrations were planned and executed by WeddingSutra Favorite – Mpire Events. Here are a few highlights.
Wedding Venue
The Kolkata-based couple envisioned a destination wedding and, after checking out several locations, they picked the Dusit Thani Hua Hin Resort located on a tranquil beach and surrounded by lush greenery.
Wedding Planning
Planning a destination wedding can get quite overwhelming – it involves juggling work and everyday duties with sampling and finalizing vendors, so the couple entrusted Mpire Events with the responsibility of creating their dream wedding. They conceptualized distinct themes and decor for each function with the help of a local vendor, Kanoknit Decor.
Guests were entertained by DJ Vicky and Lisa Mishra as they sipped on delicious drinks by the bartending team of Flairmix. Precious moments from the wedding were captured by Recall Pictures.
The Wedding Functions
Welcome Dinner
The couple made a grand entrance with fire dancers performing. This was followed by a spectacular fire show on the beach. The rustic yet elegant decor featured fairy lights, wooden structures and splashes of green leaves and vine arrangements on a long, communal dinner table. The bride looked alluring in a violet and black ruffled dress, while the groom wore a stylish blazer with chinos.
Pool Party
On the following day, a boho-chic themed pool party was held, the decor featured teepees and coral drapes. The bride channeled quirky elegance in a beaded green dress, sunglasses and floral hair accessories. The groom stood out in a vibrant orange and pink bandi jacket.
Sangeet
A huge neon sign with the couple’s hashtag was the bar’s backdrop, welcoming guests into the ballroom, which was decked out spectacularly with flowers and chandeliers. A color combination of navy blue and gold, along with an abundance of pale pink flowers and sleek modern metallic structures made for striking decor. The bride shimmered in a stunning silver lehenga, while the groom wore a black and silver embroidered sherwani.
Haldi
The haldi ceremony was very traditional with sunny yellow decorations. The function saw several elements from the Bengali culture, as the couple hails from Kolkata.
Wedding
The baraat entered with all the pomp and splendor of an Indian wedding. The groom arrived in a turquoise vintage car courtesy of Thai Tourism. The spectacular function featured a number of grand displays that included smoke bombs and cold pyros. The wedding mandap was all things pink – from the aisle to the altar – in varying hues and textures. The bride made her entry on a boat, sailing across the Dusit Thani Lake, with dry ice and smoke surrounding her. After getting off she walked in under a traditional phoolon ki chaadar dressed in a beautiful red Tarun Tahiliani outfit.
Reception
The final function, the reception dinner, was a glamorous masquerade-theme ball. Guests were provided beautiful gold and silver masks which they had to don for the event. Heartfelt speeches and a cake-cutting ceremony was followed by a screening of the wedding highlights captured by Recall Pictures.
