Chitralekha Pasupuleti and Holm-Ingolf Hamann, RAAS Devigarh, Udaipur
Conquering borders and stereotypes - this couple’s destination wedding in Udaipur will melt your heart with its thoughtful designs.
From their journey of first crossing paths on a dating app to getting engaged and walking arm in arm on the sunkissed streets of Paris, Chitralekha Pasupuleti and Holm-Ingolf Hamann’s destination wedding in Udaipur unfolded a new chapter in their love story. Honoring the bride’s love for traditional Indian elements while retaining the sleekness of chic modern styles, WeddingSutra Favorite – To the Aisle meticulously designed the events.
Wedding Planning
Inspired by the bride’s Hyderabadi roots, the local Rajasthani culture and the couple’s journey of love – To the Aisle left no stone unturned when it came to designing this wedding. Giving every event a unique vibe by looking at the minute details, the team ensured that the couple, their unique love story and their love for their families were echoed throughout the celebrations.
Wedding Functions
Welcome Dinner
Prerika Puri from To the Aisle shares, “The welcome dinner was inspired by the Thar desert in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Since the couple was getting married in Rajasthan they wanted everything to speak of Rajasthan. The Thar Desert night involved all the elements that you would normally find in a desert safari lodge – from wooden log fences around the hot pool which was visualised as fencing for safety for wild animals, actual sand for centrepieces to leopard print customised carpets all around the venue. Silver Rajasthani lanterns lit up the venue and leopard print side small plates were included as the guest list for this celebration was short with only 60 guests present.”

Haldi
“The haldi was inspired by Shakuntala and the forest, hence it was named ‘The forest of Shakuntala’. We picked this because the venue was the private pool section between two suite rooms of the bride and groom. This area was surrounded by lots of greenery and exuded a raw beauty. On the decor front, we added pearl elements to give a regal feel along with fruits like pears, and green apples. A life-size lily in the middle of the waterbody finished things off with an elegant flair”, shares Prerika.

Mehndi
Prerika shares, “The Mehendi was called ‘Zenana Mahal’ which was inspired by the women in ancient India who gathered together for henna and getting ready in general. We converted the courtyard to resemble the dressing rooms of the maharanis in ancient times. Henna blocks were gathered from old houses in Jaipur and a backdrop was crafted from them. Alta plates, gajra for hair, ancient combs, ghungroos, and a customised henna block with couple’s names imprinted on them – were all a part of the decor. We also went the extra mile and gathered vintage books in Sanskrit and Hindi to use as centrepieces.”

Wedding
The couple decided to keep it modern for the wedding with dashes of traditional opulence. Prerika shares, “We customised a lotus-inspired chandelier for the wedding mandap. The aisle had water on both sides with fresh lotuses and flowers all around it. Even the pillars were customised to mimic the shape of lotus buds. Keeping in sync with the theme, we also added an artificial water curtain in the background.”

Sangeet and Reception
“The sangeet took inspiration from the beauty of Paris since the groom had proposed to Chitralekha in Paris. A special 3D mapping was done to convert the courtyard venue to resemble a museum in Paris. Twinkling lights were also added to the mix to resemble the twinkling Eiffel Tower at night”, shares Prerika. Energetic performances, sleek decor and heartfelt toasts made the sangeet and reception an elegant affair.
