Damini Goswamy and Prabhdeep Singh Ghai, Raffles Udaipur Resort
French cafe-inspired decor, life-sized sweet treats and pastel hues paid homage to the bride’s love for chocolates at this couple’s mehndi celebration.
Celebrating their unique personalities with avante-garde styles, Damini Goswamy, a filmmaker and screenwriter and daughter of late Dr Apurva Goswamy, former founder of Quantum Solutions India and Continuum Solutions India, wed Prabhdeep Singh Ghai, an entrepreneur in a series of stunning celebrations. Planning and designing their wedding was WeddingSutra Favorite – DreamzKrraft who at every turn understood the couple’s vision and pushed the boundaries of innovation with unique concepts.
Wedding Planning
Priti Sidhwani from DreamzKrraft shares, “The couple wanted their wedding to be an unforgettable celebration of love, with a creative and unique design that reflected the bride’s personality and style. The wedding was to be divided into multiple functions, with each function telling a different story and transporting guests into a different world. The couple wanted the design to be a true masterpiece of creativity and innovation, with every aspect carefully curated to create a seamless blend of cultures and themes. This one was a thorough joy ride with the personalities of the couple so charismatic and yet so definitive for us to recreate for wedding festivities. The concept of Paras Damini’s wedding was a celebration of their unique personalities and styles, brought to life through a whimsical and avant-garde design. The couple’s vision was to create a wedding that was unlike anything seen before, with each function telling a unique story that transported guests into a different world. The wedding celebrations of this couple were full of excitement and had a variety of talented artists for each event.”
However, the process wasn’t without its challenges as Priti shares, “We met with great challenges, as we had to obtain approval from both the hotel and the conservative authority. But with the unwavering support and guidance of the hotel staff, we overcame all obstacles. Every detail was attended to with the utmost care and precision, as we meticulously crafted a custom song for the grand Mala entry, synchronizing the dazzling fireworks to the rhythm and beats of the music making the moment literally magical. We even arranged for the guests’ luggage to be pre-shipped to the hotel so that upon their arrival, they were greeted with the splendid surprise of their bags waiting for them in their luxurious rooms and they were all set to hit the dance floor.”
Wedding Functions
Welcome Dinner and Cocktail Night
Priti shares, “For the welcome dinner and cocktail night, the theme was Devil Wears Prada, inspired by the couple’s hashtag. The design was an ode to high fashion, with shades of grey serving as a base and hot pink adding the perfect pop of color. The courtyard next to the ballroom, which was already grey-toned, was used to create a seamless transition between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The design team executed a ramp and stage that merged into an interactive nightclub area, complete with an island bar, creating a captivating and immersive experience for all guests. The food was a gallery-style display that acted more like an art exhibit recreation, with everything meticulously placed to truly feel like a work of art. Guests were treated to a flash mob and even real fashion models who walked the ramp and made a dramatic entrance that left everyone mesmerized. The entire evening was a celebration of fashion and design, a testament to the couple’s unique aesthetic and creative vision.”
Mehndi
Next in line was the mehndi which was inspired by the bride’s love for chocolates. Priti shares, “For the Mehendi function, the theme was Willy Wonka’s Oompa Loompa, which was creatively expanded upon to encompass the multiple levels of the venue. The design was built around four color blocks, each highlighting a different pastel shade featuring in every area of the function. Life-sized candies, animal sculptures, and real-life-looking chocolates that guests encountered transported the guests into the fantastical world of Willy Wonka. It also featured a French café-inspired design with beautiful pastel panel prints on the ceiling, carpet detailing, and structures that evoked an outdoor café vibe.”
Sangeet
Taking a break from the usual Bollywood-themed sangeet events that one usually sees at a wedding, this sangeet took the guests on a memorable safari. Priti shares, “The Sunset Safari sangeet event was an extravagant affair that combined the beauty of Arabian Nights with the wildness of African Safari. The theme of Punjab meets ‘Afro-Tropicals’ was flawlessly done with every detail carefully curated. As guests arrived, they were greeted with a spectacular display of tiki torches and lamps, and African-inspired prints.”
Haldi
Sunkissed and playful, the haldi reflected the couple’s mood with its fun decor that added a dash of quirk to the proceedings. With their loved ones exchanging banter and the groom being sprayed with champagne by his friends, the haldi witnessed many fun moments.
Chooda
With her bridal squad by her side, Damini’s chooda ceremony was an intimate one hosted indoors. The decor was minimal while all the rituals were followed to prep the bride for her upcoming big day!
Wedding
Surrounded by greenery and delicate pink blooms, the wedding was a serene event hosted under the bright blue February sky dotted with clouds. The bridal entry was an especially memorable one as Damini entered under a phoolon ki chaadar and walked down a pathway surrounded by foliage on both sides. After signing a personalized marriage contract that contained adorable points, the groom along with the bride proceeded with the wedding rituals.
Reception
After the soft pastel-hued wedding, the couple gave glamour a hefty leg-up with a reception that was swathed in red hues. Using a generous amount of scarlet roses along with vintage candelabras – the open-air celebrations exuded a vintage vibe. Strategically placed plush velvet sofas with red upholstery gave the guests plenty of opportunity to get comfy while golden lights made the night seem magical. Metallic gold elements in the form of larger-than-life horse statues and tall vases accentuated and balanced the red hues.
