Wedding Planning
“Devika and Anjul flew down from the US with a dream to celebrate their love in a way that felt authentic to India yet resonated with their modern lives,” shares Pooja Jain from Akaso Events. “Most of their guests had come from different parts of the world, so our goal was to create an experience that introduced them to India’s color, craft, and hospitality, while ensuring the entire celebration felt deeply personal.” Spanning two days and five thoughtfully designed functions, the February wedding was a symphony of culture, creativity, and comfort. Each event reflected a unique mood, from vibrant Rajasthani flair to soulful Sufi evenings and the calm simplicity of South Indian traditions.

Wedding Functions
Mehendi
The festivities began with a vibrant mehendi, themed Postcards from Jaipur, a heartfelt ode to the Pink City. Since most guests were visiting India for the first time, the setting was designed to immerse them in Rajasthan’s spirit. The décor featured delicate block prints, soft pastel hues, and handcrafted accents inspired by Jaipur’s architecture. Folk artists and local performers brought alive the charm of the region.

Sangeet
As the sun set, guests gathered for a soulful evening titled Shaam-e-Sufiyana. The night began with mesmerising Sufi performances that set a serene, melodic tone before giving way to a high-energy sangeet that celebrated the couple’s love for music and dance. With Devika being a trained dancer, the evening unfolded as a perfect balance between fun moments and graceful moves. Draped in deep jewel tones, the space glowed under warm lights and candle clusters, creating an ambience that was both mystical and electric.

Haldi
The next morning, the haldi ceremony brought a refreshing shift in mood. Designed as a South Indian-inspired brunch, it featured minimalist décor, organic textures, and cheerful yellow and white accents. Guests sat down to banana-leaf brunches by the pool as laughter and music filled the air. “We wanted this ceremony to feel light, rooted, and joyfully intimate,” adds Pooja.

Wedding and Reception
The wedding ceremony, aptly named Sindhoori Sangam, embodied the grandeur of a traditional Indian wedding. Hues of red, gold, and ivory dominated the décor, with intricate floral mandaps and regal details paying homage to the city’s royal lineage.
The evening concluded with an elegant ballroom reception, where soft ivory drapes, crystal chandeliers, and floral centrepieces set the tone for a Western-style celebration reminiscent of the couple’s life in the US.
