Effortlessly chic while retaining traditional flavours, this couple’s wedding in Delhi approached every event with nuance and expression.
Gaurika Narang, an event stylist and decorator and Rohan Ralli’s wedding unfolded as a thoughtfully layered celebration where tradition met contemporary elegance seamlessly. Designed as a series of immersive experiences rather than standalone events, each function carried its own distinct mood while remaining visually and emotionally cohesive. Bringing this vision to life was WeddingSutra Favorite – Karmaa Events & Entertainment, whose nuanced approach to design and storytelling shaped a wedding that felt vibrant and personal.
Wedding Planning
From the outset, the brief centred on creating events that were visually distinct and rich with personalised elements. “The idea was to ensure that no two functions felt similar, yet everything flowed together organically,” shares Aman Paul from Karmaa Events & Entertainment. The mehndi was conceptualised as a spirited Indian sundowner with a bustling bazaar layout, complete with shop-style installations and an old-school stage that evoked nostalgia. For the wedding, the vision shifted to something deeply traditional, interpreted through a modern lens, drawing inspiration from the timeless elegance of a Sabyasachi aesthetic. “Balancing heritage with a contemporary sensibility was key,” he adds.
Wedding Functions
Mata Ki Chowki
The celebrations commenced on a reverent note with a Mata Ki Chowki rooted in tradition. Layers of malas, molly, and an abundance of bells were paired with textured rust-toned fabrics, creating a space that felt serene and devotional. “This event was about keeping the décor symbolic and soulful, allowing the spiritual energy of the ceremony to take centre stage,” notes Aman.
Cocktail
Designed as a complete contrast, the cocktail evening embraced a minimalist, stylish aesthetic. The décor was intentionally understated, enhancing the venue’s inherent charm rather than overpowering it. “We kept the design clean and elegant, focusing on subtle details that elevated the space without overwhelming it,” shares Aman, describing the evening as polished and effortlessly chic.
Mehndi
Bursting with colour and character, the mehndi brought a pind-inspired sundowner to life through a lively bazaar-style setting. Lanterns added warmth, while a traditional stage anchored the space. One of the standout elements was the bar, crowned by a tree adorned with kaleerein and fresh florals. Personalisation was woven into every corner, from customised cushions and playful cue cards to a bespoke ludo board designed especially for the couple. “The mehndi was all about celebration and personality; every detail was meant to feel joyful and interactive,” Aman adds.
